Hospitality Fights Back

I posted a few weeks back that there were reports that "hospitality" was responsible for just under 4% of all transmission cases.

That went down to 3% in the next report.
As I've mentioned before the government needs a scapegoat and we are it.

I applaud them. my local MP voted against it too and is getting a blowtorching on social media.
Apparently the Daily Mirror has front paged a list of names.

I'm thinking their possible initial thoughts about Marcus Rashford have badly boomeranged. Some thick footballer, etc.
He's proved himself to be a remarkably caring eloquent human being who just happens to be a footballer. He also is very much in the public eye.

So we are closing Mondays Tuesdays and Wednesdays and doing takeouts the rest of the week. It worked during the first lockdown so hopefully it takes off again.

People aren't afraid to go out at the moment, yesterday was our busiest Sunday since March. We sold out of all the meats and went through 25kg of mash. Shut up shop at 7:30, a full hour before we usually do.
Fully booked tonight with the 50% off offer on, Tuesday night filling up quickly, will be booked out by the end of today and Wednesday we usually do steak night but we've knocked that on the head as people have booked anyways.

Busy few days ahead.

Will be interesting to see what the industry gets blamed for and how tightly our hands are tied behind our backs as we look to reopen fully, later today in the PM's speech.

Many leaks to the newspapers over the weekend, I thought Cummings was responsible for those leaks? Obviously not.

Looks like most areas will be in Tier 2 at least which means no pubs (unless substantial food offer) so you should be ok.

Looks like the friend of the gvt (Spoons) has got he own way.

Absolute kick in the nuts for local pubs.

Again - where is the evidence/logic?

Evidence and logic have been lacking throughout. Not worth searching for it now.

Yep wet led pubs have been shut for 3 weeks and had restrictions on them weeks before yet the cases still rise.
Will be interested to hear how the 2 week crew can pin the blame on hospitality for the current situation, right here right now.

At least they seem to be getting rid of the 10pm curfew which should help some places but there is a very danger and a very real possibility that a lot of wet led pubs will never return and that's not an over exaggeration. Some are even predicting 500,000 job losses.

It's a more stands to reason common sense than looking at data and graphs,a lot people go out along side shopping alcohol and their inhibitions disappear. No masks etc, they are all getting paid on furlough so they can get by.

The problem is you can go to a spoons have burger and chips at 6 o clock and get lashed for the rest of the night.
Little or no difference to a wet pub

My local has spent over £20k getting his pub ship shape with outdoor heaters, and covered areas this year. This will send his business under - for good.

For what?

My understanding was you had to be eating while drinking and therefore the above example wouldn't fit the criteria. It would fit if you took 3 hours to eat your burger and chips though. So if you want a few beers eat very slowly

Although it seems Teesside will be coming out of lockdown into Tier 3. Pubs only able to do takeaways. Seriously what is the point? It's going to absolutely decimate the industry

Alcohol consumed at home only, there's less chance of the wine brigade asreing about causing death and mayhem. If your local can spend that without a brewery it must get stowed out with custom.
Do we need pubs anymore? Policing them and violent crime just be well down and saving the NHS cost and trouble..
There's a lot on here with problems are most alcohol related?
It would be good for lots to leave the wine alone and just have a cuppa or a cokie cola.

Just leave a few chips on your plate and say you haven’t finished.

Nonsense post, have you looked at domestic violence? Have you looked at hospital admissions from drink related incidents?

Pubs provide a social center in many communities doing much more good than harm. Shutting pubs doesn't stop alcohol related problems or just moved them.

Has domestic violence gone up ? Has drink related hospital admissions gone up?
Spent time running football teams from pubs and obviously playing, the darts and dominoes was social too I suppose.

I'm sure I read somewhere domestic violence is up due to stress about money and being a bit cabin fevery from enforced spending time together.
