Hoppe deal agreed..

I’m ok with this type of signing - as long as we bring in some other more experienced and proven at this level forwards. It’s relatively low risk, with potentially higher rewards, which is the way forward as we are now

Doesn't matter who you sign as a striker. If the team is on the back foot all the time he won't appreciate in value.

The Championship is going to be brutal this season. Any 3 of 12? 14? teams fancying their chances.
Two games gone, good, bad and ugly.... continuing from last season. Desperately need 2 mobile CMs in who won't get bullied and 2 forwards. And some solid squad players. Probably 6-7 in total. Going to be a busy 3 and a bit weeks......

I think a lot of peoplenhave got very over excited about out prospects this season, we will play som great stuff im sure but I have no thoughts of promotion. Before anyone starts, I don't mind that, I like the manager and I actually really enjoy the championship.
When I'm being objective I couldn't agree more, unfortunately when the transfer window is open lots of us (myself included) lose their objectivity (and their minds).

I think to replace him if I'm honest.
He can't do 46+ games.....and what if he picked up an injury which kept him out for 6-8 weeks? We would completely and utterly f*cked.
Need 2 CMs as, like, a matter of urgency. Loan, buy whatever. As long as they are mobile and won't get bullied. Ideally chip in 10-12 goals, but let's not get carried away........

Still lots of players in needed before the window shuts.

With luck Hoppe in & sorted soon, poss keep Akpom & still, I'd think for the system Wilder likes to play, another two could easily be accommodated, esp with Watmore's knee & Coburn's knack..

Midfield we're light of at least a couple now Tav has gone. & A CB or two would not overload us defensively..

This season is meant to be one to push on from the last, ATM we have a wafer thin squad, 5, 6, 7 or maybe 8 would not go a miss..

Hopefully, again, this week will see some additions..

I wholeheartedly agree with the idea of signing a 21 year old for £2.5. If he fails, not a huge loss. If he’s average, money back. If he is a success he could be worth £25m

If he’s ever worth £25m we’ll sell him for £8.5

I’m an optimist but 6-7 players is just not going to happen
Why not? I'm expecting the last week or two of the window to go mental, the domino effect starting. We will get 2-3 in next couple of weeks, then final week get (hopefully) some decent PL loans and one or two more.
SURELY there must be some good, young League 1 CMs worth a punt.....or players in Germany/Holland/Sweden/Denmark. Taking a punt for a relatively small fee is going to be better than what we have 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
Have faith .......😬😬

I just can’t see it

3-4 maybe but I just can’t see 6-7

He the least of our problems
I think central midfield is the crux of our problems if I'm honest. The strikers will come I'm sure, along with a LCB.

But we can't ever think we're going to control the hurly burly battle of a Championship midfield with Howson and McGree in there.

Numerous times against West Brom and again for the Wilcock goal and loads of last season too we were nowhere good enough at centre mid.

Bang average teams play through us like we're not there or bully us physically and we have no answer.

Howson has been a decent servant to the club, he's a model pro, super fit, rarely injured, happy (and good enough) to cover a couple of positions as needed. But he isn't quick, aggressive or powerful enough to be our main man in the deep lying role for me. He isn't a particularly good tackler or a leader & organiser who gees up the team and boIIocks those not performing. He rarely scores or assists either, which isn't a huge criticism if he is doing the dirty work in midfield that allows others more freedom forward (like Clayton).

A big upgrade on Howson may allow us to carry McGree at left centre mid, but if not they both need improving on with players more suited to the physical toils of the championship.

I would say overall we are a pretty small 'nice' team, I doubt there is anyone in our squad that opposition teams think 'I don't fancy matching up to him on a set piece', maybe Uche?

I'm not condoning a load of massive thuggish brutes, they've still got to be good players who can execute Wilder's vision. But if they were 6' 3" brick outhouses who could run through walls as well as bring a few referee influencing dark arts and touch of 'shithousery' also, I think we'd be much better team for it.

Massively agree with this. Need someone who covers those yards is a presence. That and a proper LCB and we might get away with McGree in there but even then only maybe.

Just having options would be a big help. Although I cant say I have ever been Howsons biggest fan there have been games where he has been MoM. Against Spurs he was the best midfielder on the park, so there are times where his style suits, or the dynamics of the game suits. Maybe the idea of him being high up the pitch is for the overlapping centrebacks to provide some cover? I dont know. It is another part of the pitch where we are so short of numbers if we have ambitions this season.

Feels like the problem with Wilderball is all the positions and roles are so specific is almost impossible to shuffle things about. It's like the opposite of total football.
