Homer

Which puts into context the magnitude of the mamoth task Jimmy Cook did in that little boat that used to hang from the roof in the Clevo Centre.
Is it sad that our most famous son was famous for getting as far away from the place as was humanly possible. (Technically further than was thought possible!)

In all seriousness, where do you pick up Ancient Greek classical knowledge.

I know the answer, but didn't learn it in school. I dont remember Homer being in Disneys Hercules.

As a result of always being stumped by the numerous quiz questions that are based on Greek & Roman mythology, I went to the library to try and enhance my knowledge.
I found the books mind numbing ,so went to the children's section for a simplified version.
Still couldn't get my head round them as just lots of tall stories to me, which some parts of society place too high an emphasis on, so the whole lot still remains a mystery to me! 🤔

That's pretty funny 🙂 Although Homer Simpson is probably more famous than Homer himself now.
When I saw the thread title I thought it was going to be a Simpson's anecdote.

Pointless. Name a country with a 1000 mile coastline. Africa. Her partner wasn't much better. He said UK.
So both answers are correct then? Or did they want a country with a coastline of EXACTLY 1000 miles? Which isn't how Pointless works.
Or are you thinking of 'Name a US state with a coastline '; 'Mexico', which is a popular clip.

I read the odyssey and the Iliad in my late 20s on a whim, if you have a curious nature then why not....it was f(*((n painful at times though. I remember one chapter that just went through the names of all the generals in the army and basically told a paragraph on where they came from and what they did before war. The majority of these characters were never heard from again.....he needed a better editor.

Stephen Fry just released Mythos- I find I can listen to him speaking all day so the audiobook is quite easy listening.

I had a go at the Odyssey many years ago- I didnt have the stamina. Might see if I can find an audiobook version and try it when out running.
