Hmmmm!šŸ˜œ Very interesting article about 'Boro's problem's in midfield!

8 games is not a season it canā€™t be used in any comparison.
Think you misunderstood. I was commenting on the two ā€œfirst seasonsā€ in question. It was your comparison not mine. Karanka joined after 13 games in 2013-14. You compared that with Warnockā€™s 2020-21 full season

That 2021-14 season is comparable with Warnock's 2021-21 season.

Folks seem to be comparing Warnock's 8 games with Karanka's 2013-14 season as i've stated before Warnock after taking over from Woodgate had to 'do a Mowbray' before he could get the team on an even keel. I do think that the circumstances were more favourable for Karanka but the least we can do is compare side by side and not compare Karanka's promotion winning season with Warnock's consolidating season.

We must as fans at least give him the same chance as Karanka.. even if he doesn't come with a black wig, Spanish accent and stroppy attitude!

dunno mate you seem desperate to support warnock in spite of the evidence
Iā€™m not desperate. 8 games does not make a season.. and a season does not follow calendar year.

I donā€™t enjoy the false narratives.. but at the end of the day I donā€™t have to read them. Good old internet and social media!

But you werenā€™t talking about Warnockā€™s first season. You were comparing his second season with Karankaā€™s first. I think itā€™s a fair point to say they arenā€™t similar. And repeating yet again the point above from Zoo and Boromart Karanka took over after 13 games when Boro were hovering above the relegation zone and we were only ever on the up. Warnock had had two transfer windows and a full season when we finished on a downer.

I think you could compare Warnock's first full season to Karanka's first 2/3 season. Karanka did better with less for me. Karankas first full (play off final season) and this season ( hopefully Warnock's last), are comparable as both summers had significant investment. Karanka miles out infront for me. Worth noting that Karanka was in his first managers job, Warnock in his last an intetesting fact to juxtapose when measured against results during respective tenures. Also, Warnock signed Akpom. I know Karanka signed Gestede but did he really?

And Karanka signed Kike Sola.

Managerial experience doesn't come into it. Karanka doesn't become a a better manager because he hadn't done it before just as Warnock doesn't become a worse manager because he's been doing it for so long.

Karanka came in as an unknown with no extra baggage.. he was perfect, Warnock came with a reputation and folks had already formed an opinion.

Karanka 2013/14 Season - Finished 12th on 64 points

Warnock 2020/21 Season - Finished 10th on 64 points

You think Karanka did better with less.. I disagree, but at least it's a valid opinion..

he has become a worse manager that he hasn't learnt to move with the times and still goes by the play book of 1995 when Paul Wilkinson was too classy for the championship, these days his quality would be Peterborough level. It's a far more technical game these days and Warnock still dumbs it down

it's not a false narrative that we have been rubbish for 10 months now

Last season we finished 10th on 64 points
(same as Karanka in 2013/14)

This season:

Neil Warnock 2021/22 season
DWLDDLWLLWLWWW W6 D3 L5

Aitor Karanka 2014/15 season
WLWLLWWWDDWWLD W7 D3 L4

If we've been rubbish.. then Karanka was rubbish too (and he started off with a better squad & better players)

lose and we could go 14th.

Realistically if we do win, the following games after that will be more telling, tough games, Luton (A), West Brom (A), Millwall (H). Warnock will have to do something he is repeatedly failed to do, beat top 10 sides or we will rapidly slide down the table.
Fair enough but like I've said top 3 look stronger than us. The rest are no great shakes Luton Coventry Stoke Millwall etc.
We could easily make the top 6, I think we are improving as a side with injured players to bolster us.
I really don't get the negativity....

It's about the momentum and direction of travel, we've been crap for 10 months. You seem to have a desire to wipe the slate clean for the abysmal second half of last season, it was horrific form. You can't pretend that didn't happen, by saying that was last season and ok, we didn't start well this season but we've just beaten three bad teams.

Will we still be top 6 at the international break...?

we could make the top six, but we have to start beating top ten teams to do that. We will fall short if we keep doing so badly against top 10 teams. Those are the six pointers that decide where we finish. We've proven that we can largely beat the cannon fodder. So won't be in the relegation shake up. Right now I'd peg us at about 10th unless we find another gear that's been elusive since late 2020.

That isn't being negative, or positive, it's just the reality of our form and limitations in our ability for nearly a year.

2nd - Fulham, we got a good point, but we rode our luck and put our only real chance away
4th Coventry - comfortably beat us
7th - QPR comfortably beat us on our ground
11th Blackpool beat us at our ground

I agree those sides 4th-12th are no great shakes, but we still haven't been beating them
