Hayes on Frozen Pitches

A lot of anger and frustration aimed at the WSL .
Not aimed at WSL. The frustration is aimed at the outlets/media coverage.

Maybe, and its just an idea, if you dont like womens football, then maybe dont watch it?
Not sure anyone has said they do watch it? Strange comment.

The over the top Sky promotion is no different to the stuff they do for the NBA, or the NFL etc, and I dont watch those either.
It's nothing like the promotion for NBA/NFL etc.

WSL is promoted much more than those examples you've given.

And yes, they do have some 5hit female commentators and analysts on Sky, but jesus wept, have you listened to Don Goodman or Jamie Redknapp lately? All equally 5hit.
Who mentioned female commentators and analysts? And what has that got to do with anything?

Nobody is saying anyone is being forced to watch women's football.

The thread, and conversation, was centered around the Chelsea women's manager complaining in the national media that everything's not equal between the men's game and women's game after her team's game got called off due to a frozen pitch... which is absolute codswallop.
and i quote "im sick of sky ramming it down peoples throats all day"

I could say the same thing about Darts, a "sport" I have no interest in whatsoever, but I turn it over/off, rather than sitting watching it whilst foaming at the mouth about the lefty woke PC brigade erroding my civil liberties.

stop beating around the bush, the whole undertone is that women should know their place right?

Agreed, once they can fill the facilities they want to play in then it’s a non starter for me.

Only arsenal getting something close to a premier league attendance
Let’s not start bringing in the ‘you must fill the facility to use it’ rule, Sunderland would’ve been kicked out of the SOL a long time ago.

There's enough money swilling about in football to make just about every pitch playable throughout the winter. It's simply not distributed correctly.

Men's games get called off due to the weather though.

This isn't a women's game vs men's game issue is it.. which Hayes is trying to make it.

What's the typical salary in the WSL, anyone know?

I'm very much in support of it but equally I'm not that interested in watching any of it and I don't know many people who are.

It's an interesting debate, but I'm not sure I agree that the WSL should have the same facilities and support as the EPL - it has to be self sustaining and its footprint isn't at a level where its anywhere near the EPL, or even the league below it?

But the elite women's game isn't at the same level as the elite men's game is it mate. In every single sense, so why would the commercial investment levels be the same, why would the infrastructure be the same.
Totally an utterly agree here. I played at a relatively decent standard on a Saturday and I'd bet a good number of semi-pro mens teams would absolutely stuff any professional womens team.

We are creating a society where people are far too easily offended and therefore we are reluctant to criticise or call out things that are absolute nonsense, the comment about the pitches being one- she should look at Charlton at the weekend and what Dean Holden had to say after their game was called off, it's weather, it happens, and it's nothing to do with whether your male or female.

Correct.

The elite women's game will never be at the same level. We all know that, and we all know why. It doesn't mean women, kids and lower level players shouldn't play on pitches of a similar standard, the money is there for it to happen.

It's up to her employers at Chelsea whether they install under ground heating at their own ground or not. It's nothing to do with Sky Sports or anyone else. If the money from TV and crowds are there, then the clubs will want to have heated pitches to avoid the loss of revenue - I do wonder of this is the case yet?

Whether U16 boys teams can beat the women's team or not is irrelevant.
