Have you enjoyed lockdown?

I have to say, I've loved every second - worked from home, haven't had to go to the UK, saved loads of money and paid off debts. I'm a miserable git and don't need to meet (and pretend to enjoy meeting) people outside my existing circle of friends and family. Only downside is not seeing my son for 9 months.

Also, other than from March to May last year, we haven't "really" been locked down here - bars, restaurants and shops have been open, and we've been able to get out and about

I appreciate not everybody has my take on things

I'm much the same - saved a fortune in commuting costs and our lockdown was basically April last year, with bars and restaurants gradually reopening from July onwards.

No.

Next to no work. Reduction in monthly income. Home schooling. Judged for trying to keep some sense of normality for my young children by having grandparents look after them from time to time. Cabin fever stuck in the same village from 'staying local'. Been frowned at for not wearing a mask outdoors. No crowds at football which takes a lot away from the sport. Companies using covid as am excuse for **** poor customer service and long delivery times.

Pros? Spent some more time with the kids than usual and still got a job because of the job retention scheme unlike the poor souls in retail who've lost theirs but still have mortgages and bills to pay.

I have found it incredibly hard.
Moved to Devon and started a business just before the first lockdown, I was already suffering from stress and isolation before the first lockdown started. I live 150 miles from my grown up children and really miss them.
I live on my own and miss the company of others. Had business pressures and have luckily been supported by government grants to keep the business afloat. However I have not been supported personally. At the age of 55 had to cash in my pensions and have been living on some of that money. However this will mean that my pension will run out in 20 years.
I have had to employ someone to manage my business since October as my mental health has crashed. The person has had a difficult move from the midlands to Devon and have lived through their stress.
I was delighted to have the jab in February but was told the next day to shield as I have underlying health problems. I have diabetes and have found that it is massively out of control, fitness has gone.
I have reopened my business, but with a lot of fear for the future.

I’ve got Mixed feelings to be honest. On the work front I went from travelling maybe 70 to 80 flights in a year to nothing almost overnight.

At the beginning this was kind of great and different and I also enjoyed not having to travel into the office.

Closure of the gym really hit me hard and it forced me to really diligently exercise from home when I could’ve just given up

My wife and I don’t have kids so every holiday we get was abroad or to the lakes etcetera so not being able to go on holiday I know this sounds selfish but that’s been a blow.

But, like others weve decorated the house top to bottom, we spent more time together, we’ve done loads of walking and biking from the house, eating together, and I’ve not really missed travelling into work.

That said Sometimes you can’t beat being together at work and so I’m really looking forward to going back in and dare I say it travelling a bit again with work, which will be mainly to the USA, Denmark or Japan.

and I can’t wait for holiday! 😀

If you need to talk mate don't hesitate to contact me or anybody else on here Devon. I have faith that your business will take off again soon, especially with the restrictions on travel abroad. People will hopefully spend their money on new kitchens for the their wives instead of 7 day all inclusive to Benidorm.. 😀
