Have the Press and Media tired of reporting deaths and lack of PPE.

Flavour of the month now seems to be exit strategy.

We are nowhere near ready for that yet but they are pressurising politicians to reveal something. I think as soon as they start announcing exit plans people will think its nearly all over and start coming out of lockdown.

I think it’s more a case of what’s happening elsewhere and what forward planning and processes we are putting in place to make sure the removal of restrictions goes as well as possible, I think we are a while away from it but I think knowing what the Government have in place regarding planning and giving the public expectations of how we will come out of this is something the press should be asking.

Prof Ferguson said it was something they would be looking at this week. I guess it had to be two weeks after lockdown to see how the model was working and the week before any new or reduced guidelines (3 weeks was the timescale for that review).

We have lock down scheduled until 26 April in Spain. So around 3 weeks. At the moment I would guess you might be 1-2 weeks behind us. On that basis around 4-5 weeks for you?

At best - remember our lockdown is compulsory and being complied with - in the UK it still seems to be voluntary and not so compliant

Our lockdown has not been as severe as yours SM so it might be a little bit longer be interesting to see what they bring back first, but my Mrs, a headteacher, thinks it unlikely schools will re-open before September, which causes other issues with childcare of parents returning to work.

I think that is right and would help to allay the concerns of people like me who think the Government are in general disarray and are making it up as they go along.

My guess is that we will move from national lock down at the same strength. To some restrictions being lifted in areas with lower infection rates. Still with isolation between areas. So stay close to home. With us perhaps being allowed to do something like your exercise each day. In some regions.

Then slowly release the noose after that.

As said above, yours is much more lax than ours. So perhaps less opportunity to relax things?

I want this lockdown to end as much as anybody. What I don't want is it ending before it is safe to do so and we all end up back in doors in a few months. Pressure is going to be on the Government from business, banks, economists and the bored. Companies will go to the wall if they haven't already but its imperative we stand our ground so to speak. Feel sorry for those running companies but I feel more sorry for those who have lost loved ones and we need to stop it.

I think you're right, and I see the PM today is preparing the ground by saying that nothing will happen before 26 April, and is hinting that when it is slightly lifted, it'll be gradual, on a local basis, and you'll need to be wearing a mask at all times while you're out

Edit - that's the Spanish PM !

Ours is very similar to Spains, with only pharmacies, supermarkets, corner shops and some white ware sellers open for essential items (heaters, fridges etc, but mostly to those in essential services, and have to be ordered online then collected). We do this for most of the essential services. I need to get pigfood for my pigs, Barnaby and Beatrice, so phone up the supplier, they charge my card and I collect remotely at a set time from the store.
We will be in lockdown until 25th April, then probably released slowly, in certain areas, after that.

My learned friend who first alerted me to this disease before it made any news here has just posted the Swedish Government's (epidemiologists) estimated death toll over 18 months....cutting to the chase, by the same figures, we can expect 140,000 deaths in the next 18 months ... if they are correct.

Getting on a bit now. We have 3 acres here, run 8 sheep as lawnmowers, have chooks for eggs, 2 turkeys we adopted (Gary and Miranda, dont ask!) And we did breed Berkshire pigs, hence Barnaby and Beatrice. Not house trained, but come over for a stroke and like to roll over and get their tummies tickled. They are just like dogs, I love pigs me.

Based on nothing but my own guess work and with no knowledge of how viruses spread I'm thinking the next two months will be spent in lockdown. I think if it starts going past June were in huge trouble, as in we won't be able to sustain a lockdown, regardless of how many are dying. Our food supplies and economy would be screwed. Even moreso.

One thing though. We are all reasonably intelligent on here and we ALL know that restrictions have to be lifted slowly and in stages. I do hope the general public is informed of this, some people don't get it still.

"..... and like to roll over and get their tummies tickled!" - don't we all (y)

"I love pigs me" - me too, though presented in a different format ;)

Are those figures with or without a lockdown though, considering Sweden seem to be the black sheep in Europe in terms of their response?
