Hate to say it but Wilder has to go

I struggle to understand the form, at times we have played the best football we have seen in years especially with the cup run and it really looked like we could challenge. Clearly huge underlying issues that sacking another manager won’t fix, yes we might have a brief new manager bounce but we will be back in the same position in a years time because the recruitment will still be wrong
I don’t see a better manager we could get that wilder. Doubt they will be queuing up to work under Gibson with his current record
I don't think it would be hard for any manager to get more out of this squad as it clear he's fallen out with most of them and they don't want to play for him. Even worse than that he's prepared to ostracise players as development signings to prove a point to management, he is clearly the wrong fit for our long term recruitment model. Get this stubborn contrarian out of the club before it's too late otherwise we will end up in league one

Probably is the wrong fit but if this is the case then why did we sign him then spend a full summer signing players he clearly had no intention to use? It’s been so obvious this wasn’t going to work from the start.

If the rumours are true that it was Scott who pushed Warnock out because of their completely differing opinions on recruitment then it makes it all even more bizarre.

Whoever we get in will still be dealing with the same ***** from the recruitment team for years to come. It’s not the managers that need to keep changing

I think it all goes back to Burnley everyone knows how Gibson values trust above everything, if he can't trust him then why would you give him millions to spend especially on old players like Dwight Gayle. I suspect the only reason Gibson hasn't relived wilder of his duties earlier is because of the compensation he would have to pay.

You can rant and rave about behind scenes structure being wrong I don't disagree with you, however Gibson isn't going to change his methods. So the best thing the club can do is find the best managerial match for the club's recruitment model which isn't a stubborn one dimensional manager like wilder.

Can’t argue with much of this TBH. Although I have tried.

I think your argument was that there was no hard evidence about either the Burnley or Bournemouth rumours, and to be fair that is true.

I don’t know if these rumours unsettled things though, or have resulted in our terrible performances and form, but it must go deeper than that?

Whatever the reason it’s not working for Wilder and it now feels like it’s only a matter of time. It’s sad, because when he came in we looked good and a match for anyone.

He does if he thinks they're good enough: Jones, Giles, Muniz etc. Let him have a say in who we get?

He probably doesn't want less proven players, who the club decides may be good for the future.
He must have a say in who we bring in. There will be a list of players that recruitment will bring to the table and then a discussion with Scott and Wilder will give you the signing. Too many people too quick to blame recruitment when Wilder will know about these players too. Buck stops with Wilder...he needs to go...German Manager incoming but I doubt it will be Farke he's doing well at M'Gladbach

The defenders are making a hell of a lot more errors this year.

The one midfielder missing was our best one, who is now playing in the Prem.

Howson's not playing anywhere near as well as last year, which is understandable as he's now 35, but he's making some bad errors too. He's playing in the exact same position as last year.

Crooks isn't playing as well as last year, and not chipping in with a goal threat either. He's playing in the exact same position as last year.

So to summarise, we sold the best, and last years players are making mistakes and/ or have dropped in form. This isn't something that would be simple for any manager to fix.

Which style/ formation would suit them?

I think the one we're playing suits them most, but has about 5 gaping holes:

LCB who is left-footed, but also who is good (Clarke isn't good enough, the Hull lad was)
Three centre midfielders
Second Striker or the main Striker. I really, really like Muniz, but he shouldn't be our only threat, he's 21 and not played a lot of senior games.
The defenders are making more mistakes because we're playing a style and formation which doesn't suit them. We don't have the pace in the side to deal with the turnovers in play. Yet he continues to play in a style which leaves us open to the counter attack.

We have a better squad than last year. But also one less capable of playing how Wilder wants (Tav was very important for his work rate). And Wilder isn't capable of changing it.

Plus, he's also publicly ripped some of the players to shreds and it looks like they aren't happy playing for him. Although what it looks like and what is actually the case might be two different things.

Whatever the case is though, we need to play in a less open style. And that isn't going to happen under this manager.
