Has the Woodgate era been forgotten already then?

We were never going to finish in the play-offs with this squad and it's going to take more than half a season for any manager to turn us back into promotion candidates. Despite these last two results, Warnock is still doing a remarkable job.

It will take time. Probably a lot of time. We almost got relegated last season, which WOULD have been a disaster. We won't even be flirting with relegation this season, that's already a massive improvement. Teams have awful spells, it happens. Especially when they're missing three of their best players who make them tick.

Let's get things into some sort of perspective before we get hysterical off the back of two losses and decide Warnock is Woodgate in disguise. Overall, we will only get better under Warnock, not worse. We are lucky he took the job on in the first place, or we all know where we'd be right now. Keep the faith.

Are you sure youre not just trying to look on the brightside. Fact is if we had a decent enough manager last year we would never have been in trouble. Players are better than what they’re showing and are probably capable of a top six finish. Last seasons close call is down to how the club approached the season.

You're right Scuba. Especially with Covid - the main objectives this season are financial survival and staying up. It's difficult not to start having expectations when the team got to where they are in the league though, it's more frustration than anything else with me when a bit of success is one place above us and we can't quite grasp it.

Up the Boro (y)

Absolutely mate, I was starting to dream too at one point and it is frustrating when we just don't seem to turn up, but it's still night and day compared to last season and I feel we need to remind ourselves of this when things get a bit dismal as we sit comfortably above midtable!

'We won't even be flirting with relegation this season, that's already a massive improvement.' yeah I think that's a good point, we just got a bit over excited with the form last couple of months. We might do a run again, but yes no relegation worries is a massive positive

More than happy with the improvement.
Never expected to go up.
Just disappointed we don't seem to be developing as a team.
Warnock is getting a better 'song' out of £15m/£7m/£5m players it's true.
Frustrating when another team with a collective 'worth' of £5m or less turns us over.

Pulis droned on about 'root and branch reform' - was it all hot air?

Until we sort out our recruitment we'll never get anywhere. Other teams have moved on from the 1990s, we haven't

People use covid as though it doesn't have an impact on other teams... Rotherham had it weeks ago and destroyed us. It isn't a valid excuse.

I think Central was referencing the general situation due to covid, not the fact that some of our players have had it.

well put, this team has been over performing because Warnock has be getting every ounce out of players. Mid table would be about right for this team. Anyone thinking this squad is in the best 6 in the league is deluded

Warnock has done amazing with what he has. Britt and Saville who cost us a fortune and still bleed the club aside we have done really well.

Just thinking the same Chris. Plus I know we have no cash but Gibbo has been saying for years that we are in a better place financially than most teams in the league. Does not look like it now.

Maybe because we're not spending stupid money on players we don't need anymore...

It was easy to get drawn in to the fantasy play off promotion dream, we had a high that likely made us safe from any relegation threat.

we should be grateful for that and there will be better days to come, I have said before, top ten finish will be a huge improvement

Possibly, yes. But this virus harms folk in very different ways. Some experience the effects a lot longer than others, I feel some of our players may still be struggling. It's a funny ol' virus and seems to harm everyone differently. I know a fair few folk who've had 'long Covid' and are still suffering awful effects of brain fuzz, fatigue, all sorts.

Who knows. Let's just hope we can get out of this slump for now.

Being realistic, this was never a play off squad. We’re a few players short. A period of punching above our weight was bound to end in a bit of readjustment, particularly when injuries start to bite. Warnock is a decent manager at this level but mid table is about the level for this group.
