Leaving tonights debacle aside to start it seems that Carrick Sub Bingo is a game we can all play along with. In three League games so far we've seen things going wrong which might have provided a better outcome. We were very fortunate against Swansea and rarely had the ball for the second 45 minutes and were hanging on. Desperately needed new legs. First sub 81 minutes. Their complete inability to score saved us. Derby - actually made two on 68 minutes (early for him) but was no change in approach - just two players doing exactly what had gone before. Finally brought on the battering ram Coburn on 90 minutes. Portsmouth - we're behind and struggling but it takes 70 minutes to effect a real change with Conway. It's as though Carrick is afraid to use substitutions even when it's blindingly obvious that the status quo isn't working - usually for the previous 45 minutes. Finally - tonight when the game has long gone he decides to risk Conway when there is no need whatsoever.
