Will Isaiah reach his potential at boro?

Young lad, young family can be hard

He knows football and has the skills to do well, we`d be well placed to be patient with him, we were with Chuba
Totally agree was class las season and expect he will regain his form hopefully with the Boro, I reckon the Boro coaching staff will look after him and noticed he was on the pitch yesterday after the match congratulating the players still very much part of the squad

Let’s not forget he was one of the few glimmers of light in a pretty mediocre team for a long while . He hasn’t lost all of that ability, just needs to get his head down and work hard.

Carricks comments about Finch training well were probably a subtle message to him.

You said he was crap when he was in form. And you haven't been watching much either if you think he's still playing in a triangle with Crooks and Dijksteel.
Where did I say he’s still playing in a triangle with those two? I never said he was crap, I said he doesn’t have the right attributes to make it at this level, he struggles with close control, crossing and passing accuracy.

He’ll be 24 in the summer. If we are playing in the Premier League next season he won’t be anywhere near up to it based on his drop off in form this season.

I know 24 isn’t exactly ‘old’ but it’s also not young in terms of being a footballer, especially one who’s come from non league.

A loan might be good for him, but if that ends up being the case, and we are in the PL we’ll be improving the squad and there may not be room or the opportunity to keep him around.

True but suppose we could end up being relegated ( I know that’s doom and gloom) but for this reason I think a loan may be sensible

One thing has changed since this thread has started. Aaron Ramsey has come in who we can all agree looks a level above Jones.

If we do go up , Championship loan. Basically all clubs other than the top 2 would take him on loan. We need to make a profit on these youngsters if we end up at a level that is above their ability.

He will leave in the summer. He has good moments in him, but lacks any consistency, and has done nothing playing right wing, only in that wing back role. If we look at his technique, with the ball, yes he can run quickly with it, but he has a poor touch, he can get into good positions with his pace, but his crossing technique is erratic, he can shoot and finish. Without the ball, he switches off behind him, and he goes to ground far too often, I think 4 goals under Wilder were caused by him going to ground this year.

For me he is a long way off the level we need, he is a player with good physical attributes (pace, quick feet, acceleration) but little in the way of technical or tactical ability. He'll end up as a dangerous league one level player like Lewis Wing, and that is a decent standard of football for him to make a career from. He needs to be playing week in week out to reach that level, and he won't get it with us

Yet he didn't struggle with close control, crossing and passing last season.

I've seen this happen with two young Boro players who went on to play for England, Cooper and Ripley. Both unfortunately reached their peaks elsewhere.

Cooper, after a similar start to Jones to his career, went off the boil as he matured and body changed. He was sold on the cheap and developed into a great player.

I'd say give the lad time, if it means going on loan albeit but don't judge his ability on a downturn in form, he's a young player at this level, a different environment to non league.

think we have better players now in the squad and his forms dipped as much has Chubas increased which is alarming ... who knows whats going on privatly that could be affecting his football. Hope it can be rescued as his value as a footballer has decreased significantly. Maybe his heads been turned ,,,,

I want nothing more than the lad to succeed with us but I’m afraid the writing is currently on the wall with him.
