Has anything surprised you ( good or bad) about the football restart.

Mainly just how little I am bothered about the Prem league being back.I keep recording the games and instead of settling down to watch them I just watch on f fwd and stop at the goals. Bored stiff by most of the games.

Another one here who just hasn’t missed it at all. I haven’t even bothered watching a (non-Boro) full
match at all. Without the crowds it’s all just a bit soulless, even on tv.

That said, I do feel reinvigorated regarding Boro since the managerial change, and I guess I’m surprised at how quickly I’ve gone from complete Boro apathy to general excitement and interest again.

As above the lack of fans is a mega leveller . Must be very noticeable in ordinarily tight intimidating stadiums that now are just a shell .

How good Man United are and how good it would be to see them and Liverpool compete for the title rather than the footballing parody that is Man City.

They have been brilliant. Fernandes is a superstar and Greenwood is absolutely devastating and has really exciting potential. Will be interesting to see how they do next season, with a couple more new additions.

I’ve a feeling Kane is going there . It’s what the league needs

Yes, its become a huge European experiment to see if football can work without crowds.

It Can.

the benefits to the money men & bean counters is massive - no ground of any great substance required. Little to no security required, no violence, abuse or invasion - spin offs for the NHS and Judicial system - frees up massive police resources (horses, overtime, BTP, transport costs, no spotters req, no touts) No more dry trains.

clubs would become carbon neutral in no time at all.

media supply all games direct to individuals and televised games become an oasis of advertising bringing in the filthy lucre.

a new utopia or the abode of the damned ?
I watched a few games but the novelty quickly wore of. I'll just watch Boro games now (and possibly or relegation rivals).

I've quickly reverted from a "watch everything" mentality during the first couple of weeks back to picking and choosing the "big games" again. Enjoyed watching the Boro and will probably watch City Liverpool tonight. Also enjoyed a few Spanish and German games.

I'm very much looking forward to the restart of European competition in August - should be some cracking games.

Also surprised by the big swing in form of some teams, look at Stoke

It’s also shown how intimidated refs are by home crowds, they need to learn from that.

I think that takes us into the realms of conspiracy theory.

It ignores the fact that most clubs make a profit on match days, despite the expenses you mention.

I'm sure the PL could survive without fans but, if it's about greed, they wouldn't say no to even larger profits.
