Has anyone here had a trial for Boro?

I had one, back in the early 2000s at rockliffe - it was pretty much against the FA Youth Cup Team, a few years older than me

Was interesting

Not me. My dad had an offer of being an apprentice with the Boro at a young age. He turned it down as he thought he could earn more money as a carpenter/joiner. So he did an apprenticeship in that instead.

Wow, when was that spanishman,?
I will have to look it up to get an exact time. Sometime in the 1930s. We found the letter from the Boro when we were clearing the house. After my mam died in 1999. My dad had died a couple of years earlier.

Not me, and not in football either, so probably not one for this thread ;)
My dad, sadly passed in Jan this year, trialled and was accepted for Yorkshire in the early 60s, but decided a fitter and turner apprenticeship at ICI would give him more money.
Cricketers only earned during the Summer then.

Not me but one of my best mates played for boro till he was 20. Left in 2004. Signed pro in 2002

Nice one, do you still play 👍
Not that much anymore - my trial was against the likes of downing, johnson, wheater, catermole, morrison etc - that generation

But the best player on the day was Jason Kennedy... unreal - absolutely ran the show

Think he ended up at Oldham or Rochdale ??

Crew -loads of us on and off the pitch 16 and playing for a sunday league pub team i didn't have the ball skills but i had a lot of bravery and heart.

When I played in the Teesside Junior Alliance early 80s didn’t have a trial but had a guy from Doncaster come to check me out one Sunday . I was pap and he buggered off at half time . Don’t think being a footballer was in my DNA as my centre of balance is in my neck 🤭

My old fella had trials for WBA just after the war when he stayed at his sisters who made guns during it. I played in quite a successful youth team that was watched regulary, one made it who was an inter in our year, and was at the Boro when everybody wanted him knacked his knee and ended up in the NL. Mate and teammate made it at Wolves. Played a bit with Keith Edwards(Sheff utd&Leeds . Played for the town at schoolboy level.Played till I was 48 Sundays and occassional 5-a- side. Ran Sunday teams over 15 years. Had the odd flirt with the Wearside league, but I was a ST holder and went to the match, trained twice a week though. My sons all played TJA and I managed 2 of them at Sunday league. My youngest played Football and Rugby and played at Newcastle Falcons English promisings for 2 years( 4 weeks a year )

I had trials at Boro, Man Utd, Leeds and Sheff Wed. It was with a few other lads from the junior teams I used to play in. Every one said I was too small. I'm 6'1" now  Also, I wasn't all that good :ROFLMAO:
