Has Ameobi been released?

I was looking on the EFL official retained list(it can be downloaded from the link above In PDF).
And noticed Ameobi was in the out of contract list/released list. And he isn't on the retained list. I have also took a screen shot to make it easier for everyone. I apologise if this has been posted previously.

'The information was correct as of 21 May 2022', so if this is true the club have sat on it for nearly a month. Maybe they thought we wouldn't miss him, cough.

Stojanovic left after that list was released.

Ameobi being released does fit with what Rob was saying a month or so ago about Warnock saying he didn't think we'd ever see Ameobi in a Middlesbrough shirt again.

Ameobi was signed on a 2 year contract with an option of a further year.

Something very fishy if he has been released with no mention of it.
