Harry Maguire

James McClean. I don't agree with his views personally, but his kids were targeted FFS.

Regarding Maguire, he's not a bad footballer, in fact he was excellent for Leicester and almost signed for Man City. He has been made a scapegoat at Man Utd by Ten Hag, and a lot of it is unjustified. He's made some mistakes, some proper howlers, but he's not as bad as is made out. The best thing for him is that Ten Hag gets the boot and he gets back in Man Utd's team, or he gets a move away in January. Publicly stripping of the captaincy was pathetic from Ten Hag too.
Were McLeans kids targeted? I’ve never seen anything about that. Only reference to his kids being involved in anything I’ve seen was his own balaclava led IRA lesson he posted on Instagram.

If they were then thats disgusting, McLean im torn on, some of the grief he gets is over the top and out of order but at the same time some of it he seems to court and want its like he craves the attention.

He was poor under Solskjaer as well and he had the captaincy taken away because he wasn't starting. Varane and Martinez were the starting CBs and even Lindelof was above him in the pecking order. Doesn't make sense to have an £80m 4th choice centre back as captain. They would have sold him if they could but nobody else will pay his wages so they are stuck with him when he's not really wanted. He doesn't play the sort of football that Ten Hag wants to play either which doesn't help.

He still gets picked for England because England has nobody else. He might not be playing regularly for Utd but if he was playing at another team in the PL he'd be playing regularly enough to justify selection. He's always done well for England so there's no reason to get rid of him just because he's not getting a game at Utd. If he was keeping out better players you could understand but our CB choices are fairly limited.

Wasn't hard to find.

To be clear, I'm not a fan of McLean or some of his views, but the level of abuse him and his family have received is disgusting. Far worse than someone posting on facebook that they didn't play very well.

John Barnes came in for a bit of stick in his time especially as he played for England at a time when black players could still get abuse for just turning out in England shirts, it didn't help that his skills were mercurial, and idiots would conviently forget his goal against Brazil and other sublime play like that.

I think it’s very strange to be honest.

I couldn’t imagine ever going to watch Boro vs Man United and booing him either playing or coming on as a sub.

I think it’s whipped up by the media as well tbh.

Absolute whipped up by the media and part of the reason is the Daily Mail and others culture war crusade on Southgate, Maguire has become a victim of that
