Happy St George's Day

All the home nations celebrate their patron saints with passion, but not so much England and St George. Why?

The english worship the £ pound sterling - they have sold their soul to Saint Pounds, Shilling and Pence.. its their 3 in 1 Holy Trinity.

the Celtic nations have a passion about themselves and their own identity, the english do it from a position of aggressive superiority & triumphalism.

further, George isnt a Catholic (or jewish or Islam) saint, so that rules that denomination celebrating him, and those who do want to wrap themselves in the georges flag, dont go to any church for spiritual life in any way or form.

Heathens behave like Heathens.


however, back to the origionl posting about good things in the country - i say The Yorkshire Pudding is as good as it gets 😇 filled with english peas and a gravy (frogs in a swamp).

England is a sports mad country. We’re not the best at it but we have a go. Football, rugby union and league, cricket, athletics, cycling, tennis, motorsport, swimming, boxing.

Sport is healthy and brings people together. It’s definitely a big part of the culture and one of the best parts too.

Pub culture as well. I was speaking to Norwegian colleagues about this a couple of months ago. I explained I have a local pub over the road from me. I know the owners, they know me and the Missus and we pop across most weeks. The Norwegians don’t do anything like that and mentioned it sounds fantastic and very social.

Have kind thought about the general people of England, the Normans ruled with fear and started of with Genocide in the North. That type of yoke has never really left the shoulders of the common Englishman ( Angle- Saxon) , we do their bidding blindly now, and sing their songs.

Our two foster kids have just asked me what is St George's day is and who is St George- they have never heard of him. They are 10 and 11 years old

Our country has the most gorgeous countryside some of which is showcased by the county of North Yorkshire. We have a real ale industry of such quality that no other country can replicate, non finer than in Masham itself.
