Happy Birthday to the "Modfather " 62 years old today

Weller is one of those I just don't get. Love the Jam and Style Council were ok but as a solo artist I think he's crap! I have the Days of Speed live album which is quite a nice listen but most of his studio albums in the last 20 years are absolute garbage!

Same here, other than I thought Style Council were shoite as well - pretentious bllx

The Jam - magnificent though

Can't agree re Style Council - some great songs
Wanted, Shout to the top, The Lodgers, My Ever changin moods, You're the best thing, Long hot summer.
Amongst many others.

Weller a genius. May not be the nicest bloke, but what a voice and what a catalogue.

Hes nobody`s fool.
He can afford to be self - assured.
He doesnt suffer fools - like Liam Gallagher - who personifies arrogance and lack of any innate talent or ability.
Each to their own - but what he continues to do for music is more than commendable.

Correct on every point barring your last line.
Has done nothing of note for the last 15 years and that is being conservative that’s why he whinges at the crowd for not buying his latest albums. Too far up his own back eye now for me although I loved the Jam.

Can't you just enjoy the vast catalogue of Jam/Style Council/early solo stuff, watch him live and think what a great British musical icon he is, without just focusing on him being as rude as he always was when he was writing and playing that great stuff.
He is a special figure in our musical history.
