Many happy returns Middlesbrough F.C 144 years old today
I'm proud to call myself a Boro fan, my family are all Boro fans, as was my dad who took me & my brother to Ayresome Park in late 1971, thank you dad

I'm, luckily, old enough to witness both Jack Charlton's fantastic team & Bruce Ricoh's Boro born again team of 86

In all those years following the Boro I've seen it all, fantastic players, some world class, some great teams, some not so, record attendances, lowest ever attendance, liquidation in 1986, promotions, relegation, cup finals, points deducted, europe, moving grounds, & finally seeing the Boro lift a domestic trophy, we've laughed together, cried together, at times as high as a mountain & at times, as low as a snakes belly, but would I change any of it, not on your nelly, UTMB x

For some reason the 1st official game 1st March 1877, a year after we were formed, was a 1-1 draw with Jackson Ewbank v Tees Wanderers credited with scoring the 1st official goal

Jackson Ewbank. Now there's a name to conjure with. Sounds like one of the US Olympic team that took on Harold Abrahams in the 1924 100m Final.
