Hackney and Archer Link Up

Not for the first time, beautiful through ball. What a gem we have on our hands. When watching a stream with commentators from the opposition team broadcasters, they are almost always highly impressed with him.

Amazing to watch, still finding it hard to believe the football we are playing, it's simply wonderful to watch
Hackney was outstanding last night but Archer as a proper forward….my word the lad is top draw and going to be a top premier league striker. Hopefully for us because I think Carrick and danksy will persuade him the boro project (premier league then European football) is the best place for him….

How Wilder didn’t see what Leo could is pretty baffling. Hackney has started his career very well and looks a very good player. His composure with the ball is incredible. He never gets flustered and looks to make a positive pass at all times.
Wilder was stubborn , he refused to accept Hackney was ready despite a stand out performance v Barnsley. He was head and shoulders the best player on the park that night despite the loss.

It seems unfathomable but you look at wilder and think did you do it deliberately.

The football we are playing now is a pleasure for everyone to watch. We keep getting better and better.

This is not the boro we are used to but long may it continue

Archer is looking phenomenal.

I can't stop watching the goals from last night, all were brilliant but Archer's second reminded me of something we've not seen since McClaren's expensive chaps.

A few months ago I would have though a player like him would be out of our reach in the long term, but who wouldn't want to be part of what is happening at our club right now?

His second was the best. The first instinctive and a case of get good connection aim on target and hope. The second he has time to think and had the technique to put it exactly where it needed to be. It was a great finish.

Its been a long time (and I include the Karanka play-off and promotion seasons in this) since we have looked like we know how to score, rather than having the players in front of goal and crossing our fingers that the ball bounces right. I keep having to remind myself that when another one flies in and I'm waiting for the flag or the whistle because we're making it look easy. Two quick 3-1 away wins at the kind of teams we usually struggle against.

Exactly! So many times I've seen players find themselves in that position and they just die inside.

To remain ice cold like that is something that you just have. It's gotta be difficult to teach.

I’ve held off laying praise and pressure on hackney, but I’m happy to get on the bandwagon now, he’s exactly the central midfielder we’ve needed for a hell of a long time. His first thought is to get it forward and start an attack, great to see. Only thing I wish we had more of is a bit more physicality, but you can’t have everything!!

Hayden hackney the teesside xavi
I felt when Carrick came in that he'd want to go all Dr Evil on Hackney and would be one of the best teachers Hackney could hope for.

*says in a thick Geordie accent*

"I shall call him mini me"

I also felt confident he'd link well with Archer due to Archers preferred style of play but didn't think they'd click this quickly.

From what Maddo said it was the coaches and academy that were united in pushing for him to get a game after Wilder went, so whilst Leo deserves the credit for picking him it's obvious that was a collective opinion on Hackney's potential.

Which makes Wilder truculance even more baffling.
