Gyokores?

Good to hear Wilder is on the same page as the club and not putting pressure on the negotiators to get players in at any cost.

Often managers have digs at the club for “not doing enough” to being their targets in (which is a nice excuse for potential failure).

Strikers cost more than right backs.
If we want £20m for Spence then an excellent young international striker is surely worth that?
We may not need to pay that for Gyokeres, but a PL club might just jump in. See Brentford, Soton, Palace, Leicester, Forest, Leeds, BrightonIf one doesn’t, then we will get him for £15m and I’m certain he is worth that.
It’s just weird people expecting to sell at the top of a market, yet buy low.

Relatively speaking £20m is a lot more to us than it is to Spurs.

If there is premier league interest in Gyokeres I’m sure he will go there rather than to us.

He may be a one season wonder. I personally don’t think he will be and from what I saw at the Riverside would want him in the squad.

We may well not sell Spence and if we don’t we will be looking I would think at much cheaper options only.

So far it has been a good transfer window.

I've heard £15-20 million discussed for Spence on this forum, and I expect a top, young championship goal scorer to cost more than a top, young championship rightback.

It's only obscene when its other people doing it.😉
I think the key fact you omit from that argument is that one is going to a champions league team, the other to a championship team who finished 7th last season; ergo, one is more valuable because one is a more talented player.

If Gyorkores, or any championship forward, goes to the PL then you can double the fee, not because its the EPL, but because they're more talented.

What difference does that make to the selling club? They're the ones who set the asking price.

Really, they don't want to sell, so they're going to make no allowance for the status of the buyer. They're just going to state what they think a team would have to bid to make selling worth their while.

No one knows if Coventry want to sell. They may have another golden nugget in the pipeline to replace him. A substantial sale could let them strengthen the team in other ways. I’m sure they will have contingency plans like the rest of the football world for each position. They are certainly not going to advertise him for sale.

They will want to get the most for the player as we do but in both cases it will depend on who is bidding. A premier league team is much more likely to be able to pay more than a championship club.

Paper talk and speculation can easily unsettle a player. There are just so many unknowns until an actual deal goes through it is all conjecture but it it’s off season so it’s all we really have.

I think you missed my point, which more simply put, is that Spence is a more talented player, hence he's going to the EPL for more money that Gyorkores, who's moving to another championship club.
