Greg Wallace - Fun weekend

Just watched it foggy, great viewing, we went to Edinburgh last year just before lockdown, quiet but we both loved it, we'll go back again, as I've said I totally enjoy his passion & bubbly character, quite a few of this series to get through & looks like I'm going to enjoy em all

Yorkshire next week 👌
His “bubblyness” is what I find so irritating about him. He overtalks and makes me want to throw stuff at the Tv. I love travelogues don’t get me wrong but in the company of this bloke no. I remember Wogan doing something similar a few years back riding in the back of a black cab. That was more watchable.

Erimus. on your continued recommendation of this show and against my better judgement I might add, I started to watch the Edinburgh episode. I lasted two minutes alas.

And no doubt like you quite a few seem to like him but then again a lot of people seem to like Johnny Vegas and Gordon Ramsay. No there is a reason this programme is relegated to Channel 5. I thought it might be just me but then I checked the first TV review of the series and no I’m not alone.
Review starts with

“The Masterchef presenter is at his loudmouth worst as he despoils the fine city of Barcelona in this noisy, cliche-ridden embarrassment of a programme”

It then goes on to confirm all the things about Wallace I repel.

ps Note that the programme is now called Big Weekend Away not Fun Weekend. Have they dropped the word “fun” as it contravenes trade description legislation?

I can not stand Greggggggggg Wallace, but have to admit I like this show as it highlights wonderful places I would like to travel to or re-visit. I even like Masterchef tbf, I just think of Greggggggggg Wallace like I do that fella of The Benny Hill Show

Yes it is reassuring to know that most people find this man annoying. I see in the publicity blurb that the series was filmed in 2019 but delayed showing last year because the Channel thought it inappropriate to show a programme full of shots of Gregg Wallace galavanting around cities of Europe stuffing his face with food.

So what’s different this time I ask them?

Wallace mildly bemuses me.

I find him to be an utter irritant.

He shouts his way through whatever TV program he has stumbled into and gratuitously fills any space with that horrible forced laughter.

What does he actually do? What qualifies him to do any of it?

I recall him once berating a Malaysian national on Masterchef for not producing crispy skin on her Rendang chicken!

This beautifully sums up the limitations of this ignorant fool.

Coming to York next...

Visits the Guy Fawkes Inn - said to be place of his birth. It isn’t. Don’t think the pub was built when he was alive. Ran by a raging self-publicist.

Visits one of the Harry Potter tat shops on the shambles. Ran by a different raging self-publicist. The shambles has nowt to do with Harry Potter.

and goes bell ringing with a third raging self-publicist.

at least his poorly researched efforts mean he sticks to the tourist nonsense and away from the good stuff!

Cardiff, that's fine he's not everyone's cup of tea, suppose he's like marmite, we can't all like the same stuff it would be a boring world if it were the case
I enjoy his programs, I don't find him loud, or urratating, we can't all be the same, you gave it ago & decided its not for you

It doesn't bother me what reviews says about anything any program, individual, I will watch something if it appeals to me, you stated Gordon Ramsey & Jonyy Vagas, there not for me either

There are plenty of people who will watch Mrs Brown's boys the series has won awards etc, yet I couldn't last 20 seconds watching a foul mouthed unfunny bloke, there's enough people who watch the voice, Britain's got talent, any celebrity program, again they're not for me either

I'l still look forward to the next one mind

It's a bit of an open secret in the celebrity scene that he is an absolute Carsten Jancker. His professional dance partner on Strictly despised him to the point that she was relieved when they were voted out. She couldn't even be bothered to hide her disdain for him.

Can't figure out what it is he brings to Masterchef. Marus Wareing, esteemed chef, Monica Galetti, esteemed chef, and, er Greg Wallace being shouty. Bit embarrassing if you ask me, and of course you didn't, but you can have it for what it's worth anyway.

He brings some great gormless looks to the show in efforts to show his false teeth off.

Erimus I’m now convinced you were part of the production or your son did the incidental music or something. Otherwise you’re “over plugging” of this blandness is quite baffling.
