Great news - Well done Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen & business secretary Kwasi Kwarteng

Your post is about promoting Tories, again. Despite the overall damage the party you support do, you grasp at any morsels to highlight what a good job they're doing.

They're not, they're ruining the country. Thanks very much.
So just so I know what's what. If it was Labour fella overseeing the news Erimus posted and the subsequent good news about jobs and apprenticeships shared by him and others it's all good. But because it isn't it's bad news?

Just so we all know where we stand when it comes to sharing positive news surrounding the area in the future.

👍🏻

If they were simultaneously making life harder for everyone then, no, it wouldn't be good.

It would be rank hypocrisy.

Who said it was bad news?

And by the way, the company (unmentioned by Erimus) and the South Korean minister (also unmentioned) have made the decision to locate here due to the availability of cheap land and cheap labour, both courtesy of the Tories, well represented by the recipient of future directorial positions and the local tribal leader with his eye on being a future member of parliament. How very 3rd world

So the company in question will be building on the land yes? Would they then be paying rates to the local council? Good news surely? Cheap labour? Well it's not like we have British companies outsourcing jobs to other countries (call centres for example). New jobs is good news for the area whichever way you spin it. The more people at work and not signing on benefits them, us and the wider economy as a whole.

Are you just counting the unemployment figures or are we allowed to add in all the people working full-time jobs receiving in-work benefits?

Without a liveable wage what is the point of work?

Erimus you can post exactly what you want, when you want. The vast majority of posters on this board don't live anywhere near Teesside so this good news really doesn't affect them in the slightest .... they can't really comment as they don't know what it's like to live here 👍
I think there is only me and you that actually live in Middlesbrough. Of course a few live in Stockton but as we know most support Sunderland 🤣
Some of us live in Norton Nobby, and we know exactly where you live too and if I don't get my money soon there will be trouble.

The piece you are responding to actually begins with "who said it was bad news?"
The point that the Mayor's detractors are making is that whilst new jobs is good news, Houchen takes too much credit for himself.

It's in the Free Trade zone so they will be paying fcuk all to anyone. Also, workers will be on terrible contracts. Maybe they will be brought in from SE Asia. Cheap as chips!

It's what every lad from Park End could hope for. A multi-millionaire with an even richer wife with non-dom status as PM. And someone who at the age of 20 didn't know any working class people.
The last time that Nobby parked his end, there was a Heron involved and it all got a bit out of hand. He needed my help to get him out of it and he still hasn't paid up.

Edit: I wasn't very clear there. He needed my help to get him out of the legal stuff. He didn't need my help to get him out of the Heron.

If you're really that interested you should be asking Houchen with regards to what rates and perhaps rent they'll be paying.

As you say, new job are good, so long as they match the conditions of the old jobs, otherwise it's selling your @rse into a spiral of poverty. Are you up for that?

Having a full-time job should lead to financial security.
Lazy feckless northern oiks moaning again............

Why not just get an internship at one of Daddy's friends firms, or a school chum you fagged for at Eton? Then a few years down the line, a position on a couple of £100k in a political 'think tank', then stand for a nailed on MP seat and become a junior minister on £120k a year?

This fair and democratic process allows literally dozens of white men who are all incestuously related or co-dependent from dark acts in Uni or private members clubs to effectively run businesses, the media, government and the judiciary. Leading to our current age of sun lit uplands where our ruling elite show their class and education time and time again for their adoring proles to lap up.

I think the results speak for themselves.

We have really low unemployment but if you are at the bottom end of the wage scales you are probably on Universal Credit too. So that's tax payers propping up companies who refuse to pay decent wages. No wonder wages are so low in the UK.

The UK is high tax, low wage, low producivity, low growth. All thanks to 12 years of Tory. They could have done something about it but have failed.

Yeah, great news about the 750 jobs but it's like your house being on fire and congratulating the fire service for saving your garden shed whilst the rest of the house turns to ash.

The Tories have nothing to be proud of. Their record speaks volumes. The current leadership contest in a couple of days has reduced to a mid slinging contest. They have no ideas or plans. They never had. They count on people being conned by the odd snippet of good news.

The utterly unironic 'it's time for a fresh start' they are coming out with is sickening, or Rishi declaring he'll get a hold of the economy etc. How anyone can fall for this nonsense is utterly beyond me. More then half of the current Tory 'leading lights' are nearer to deserving lynching or imprisonment rather than another crack at running the country.
