Great news - Well done Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen & business secretary Kwasi Kwarteng

Not like Randy has ever criticised this government.

Pretty sure was totally cool with their handling of the pandemic. 😉

Neither left or right.

I appreciated the furlough but not the 20% pay cut it came with.

😉

As Woodall has already said though, it's time we all realised that no political party is coming to save us and we save ourselves.

Could it be because your thread title was basically "Well done 2 Tory politicians".

Perhaps if you'd just said "great news for the area" then people wouldn't have assumed it was political?

Just a thought like.
Fair enough festa, I didnt look at it that way

We'll see in future when I post a good news thread, which I'll word it to please everyone

And what about the people that aren't able to save themselves through no fault of their own.

Saving ourselves is a right-wing libertarian position.

We the general population save them too. Politics in this country, hell worldwide, the model, isn't working. To me it's almost like which colour tie can score more points off the other colour tie and the general public are collateral damage.

You are yourself look silly now, that’s not what the thread is about, it’s about businesses doing well and hopefully encouraging others to do the same and maybe others set up on Teesside. Political parties and their slogans are not going to do it for the area. Unfortunately there’s no “Knight in Shining Armour“ riding up to help!

And the logical extension of that is a political party that advocates for a safety net and proper taxation to pay for it.

If I save myself and you save yourself and we both try to help someone else how far will we get?

You've almost reached the logical endpoint yourself but haven't taken the final step.

The model (rampant corporatism as a the lovechild of neoliberal capitalism) isn't working. Corbyn (and Sanders to a lesser extent) offered a workable solution and the people with the most to lose (media magnates et al) convinced the general population that it wasn't going to be good for them.

That is the bit that needs fixing first. Stop believing the lies that this path is the only one possible. A lie that Starmer is happy to promote.

You don't need a “Knight in Shining Armour“.

You just need some honesty and that includes not promoting puff-pieces by politicians that have already promised the world and not delivered.

A healthy dose of cynicism shouldn't be a problem if the system is working.

I actually agree with a lot of what you say there. I have been saying capitalism is not working anymore. I also believe that corbyn had a lot of the answers

Just because starmers version of Labour isn’t as left as Corbyn doesn’t mean Labour aren’t left leaning anymore

That's not going to happen when we're just a centre for temporary industries owned by people from other countries or outside the region.

They are still frightened of Corbyn's ideas. In Nadhim Zahawi's letter to Johnson urging him to quit he even alluded to Corbyn, calling him a dangerous anti_Semete.

I prefer a Tory Light Labour win, I have no idea what Lite means, over a Corbyn Labour failure, again.

Starmer has played played a blinder over the last year, I was not convinced but I am now

As for the new production facility, it has to be good news. The days of old industries are dead. Not much need for a Penny Farthings factory no matter how the Far(ce) Left want to go.

Why are the Far(ce) left always so miserable, no wonder even Johnson destroyed them in 2019.

Whilst 750 jobs is undoubtedly good news, there does need to be a bit more honesty about job expectations on the Teesworks site from Houchen and co, some of the figures are not backed up with reality and as this week has proven honesty and integrity should be the least we expect of our politicians.
But it is the LAST thing we get
