Great Euro semi final action this week

Watched 3 games this week, Real Madrid v Chelsea, PSG v City and Man U v Roma, what games. Great skills, goals and thoroughly enjoyable spectacles.

Millions upon millions spent in assembling these squads( Roma probably the exception) - to the extent most fans of English clubs can only dream of.

Bittersweet really. Knowing that in a lot of cases money can bring success if clubs are managed well. The fading memory of our European exploits will be days I fear never to be seen again.
 
For me It doesn't hold the magic of yesteryear.
I know it makes me sound as old as Methuselah, but to me it doesn't seem as important now as then.
Thinking back to watching Liverpool, Ipswich, Forest, Dundee Utd, Villa, Aberdeen (Even Newport County) etc always will always hold my attention compared to yet another round of the Champions League circus.
 
Agree with Lemmy too, me neither, I use to love watching european matches many years ago, I wouldnt watch any of todays games, cant get excited even about cup semi finals, finals
 
I still enjoy the latter stages of European competitions, even if I don’t really like any of the teams involved they are often exciting matches. It’s the group stages that I can’t be bothered with, so why on Earth they want to drag it out over a whole season is beyond me.

I watched the arsenal game also and enjoyed it, though I specifically picked it because of the lack of goals for trading purposes. The man utd game would have wiped out my strategy in about 30 minutes.

I do, generally prefer balanced games though.
 
The football on show at times for PSG v Man City was absolutely mesmerizing. Some of the best I've seen from an English side. I know Lineker got a bit carried away but I think i know his sentiment. At times in the second half, Man City made a world class side look very ordinary.

I think it only bodes well for England with the City players being involved in these types of games. Coupled with Mount, James and Chilwell at Chelsea.
 
I've not watched a euro game since it went off free to air.. I've never liked the 'league' format I much preferred when it was knockout from round 1
as a - competition - it will only get worse if UEFA implement their historic weighted 'qualifying' system from 2024... they should ditch the changes & go right back to knockout.. from round one..

even up the competition & stop the parasitic dirty dozen from getting their snouts in the trough..
