Grants are up for grabs to help community groups boost the local response to Covid-19.
And a band of local ‘Covid Community Champions' is leading the charge to ensure much-needed support and information is there for local communities.
Grants - of up to £1,000 for non-constituted groups and up to £5,000 for constituted groups - will help ensure local people are well informed, with help targeted at those most at risk.
The scheme will focus on six key areas:
Individuals are also invited to put themselves forward as Community Champions to help deliver key messages in their local neighbourhoods and report back on the issues affecting specific communities.
The grants are being made as part of Middlesbrough's Test & Trace allocation from Government.
Councillor Mieka Smiles, Middlesbrough Council's Executive member for Communities & Education, said: "Those at the heart of our local communities have been amazing from day one, and their commitment, hard work and positivity have shone through.
"They're the people who have their finger on the pulse, and who now have a vital role to play in the next phase of our response to the pandemic.
"These grants will provide a much needed boost for the local groups and organisations who are at the frontline in delivering support and advice to those in need.
"I'd urge as many as possible to apply, and I look forward to working with our Community Champions as they make a real difference where it really matters."
The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday, October 12.

- Those shielding
- Those at clinical risk
- Those with addictions
- Wards with high levels of deprivation
