Got my season ticket

Haven't you?

Suprised at that
I didn’t have a season ticket the season we got promoted under Karanka, still went to majority of games but never had a season ticket. I wonder if I don’t qualify for that reason? God knows haha not bothered but wouldn’t mind a free pint 😂

I think the free pint was introduced in the Strachan years. Not as is widely thought of as a thank you to the fans from Steve Gibson for sticking with the Boro during a tough period. But actually as a natural anesthetic to soothe the trauma from watching Wilo Flood passing the ball out of play or watching Stephen McManus attempting to turn quickly when a ball was played in behind.

The free pint came in for the season when Karanka replaced Tony Mowbray probably to try and incentivise existing season ticket holders to renew as gates had dwindled in the previous few seasons .

I had a season ticket then too but was under 18. This free pint is never gonna happen for me 😞

Having looked it up (not that I didn't believe you 😉), you're right it was offered in March 2013 when season ticket renewals went out under Mowbray (who was subsequently sacked in the November).

For some reason I've always thought we'd had it longer than that. I think in my mind I've linked it to Strachan as I seem to remember him being mentioned as a reason for the offer in the first place (i.e for watching that dross you deserve some kind of reward!).

Edit: To pick up on your point Diego I do think there should be consideration given to people getting the free pint after x' number of years, or even abolishing it for those who have it as it creates tiers of fans and penalises those who aren't old enough to have been around at the time. I think the same about Gold card status which should be achievable for everyone after 20/25 years consecutive as a ST holder.

Yeah I think I should be entitled to one now to be fair. Or as you say, abolish it.

I assumed people were automatically upgraded to Gold card after 20 years.

I haven't heard about how many sold - the tone on here was positive about sales and also selling so many tickets for Preston, but that could be not relevent to new fans buying.
