Good things from Sunderland

Donna Air's has changed a lot too, she's married to some viscount or something.
She had a child to Damian Aspinall, the toff and conservationist and then went out with Kate Middleton's brother James for a couple of years too - I dont suspect they're aware of the delights of the Bigg Market, or have ever frequented a Greggs.

I bet deep down she still loves a steak bake though and has one on the sneak on the rare occasions she ventures into Waterloo station.

There isn't a Gregg's on Waterloo station. The nearest is on Lower Marsh. There used to be two there but now there's only one. Personally I'd recommend the falafel stall down there but it's only open at dinnertime.

I'm sure this week the Mackems board will have plenty of nasty comments about us, but in an effort to rise above it, what good things do you associate with Sunderland ?

For me:-

Lauren Laverne
Bryan Ferry
Frankie & The Heartstrings
Pop Recs
Grant Leadbitter (I know he's from Chester-Le-Street, but he's a Sunderland fan)
James Bowlam
I also don't mind George Clarke off the telly too

Any more ?

To add to the excellent musicians mentioned

Dave Stewart
Curve
The Lake Poets (Martin Longstaff)
Half of Little Comets (I think)
Futureheads
Liliput
Vandebilt

A fast road out of the place
Roker Pier/Beach
The River Wear
Sunderland Shipbuilders
The ambience of my Nana's shop, a proper Newsagents with a lot of loyal customers and staff was located in Newtown.
Stokoe's team doing one over Leeds(from a neutrals perspective back in the day).
