Good article on the Russian Economy imploding

BBC Article on oil/gas for Russian Federation to EU

Bottom line seems to be Russia can divert banned oil to Asia, but will be hit eventually by gas sanctions (not till 2023). It will take EU countries time to find LPG and have capacity to store it etc.

I am very surprised the Germans trusted the Russians with so much of their energy supply. Russia has been effectively a dictatorship for 20 years and constantly in conflicts around its borders.

You can look at track records as much as you want. You're still affected by bias in who you choose to believe. our opinions and decisions are based on bias. The actual knowledge we have is very very little. We continually make decisions based on very little knowledge because we have to.

You can see from your posts here that Brexit became very personal to you. You've just snuck it in here to try and get some insults in. Prime example of how emotion affects opinion. You are a remainer because it fits in with who you are as a person. You see opposing opinions as a personal attack on you. Hence the constant need to get in digs to anyone you suspect to be a brexiter.

Regarding Russia. None of us know. I don't think Putin will be brought down by sanctions. That's not based on anything more than my natural pessimism. I don't know anything about the subject. It would be nice to read someone more positive but like I said it's behind a paywall.
I could read it OK. Just close the subscription offer pop up and you should be able to read the article

They’re doing great out of this, the west’s boycott of Russian energy has pushed the price of energy through the roof meaning that Russia is making more money than ever through energy exports.

The laughable thing is that it isn’t even a proper boycott, Germany are still buying it as they’re wholly reliant and the Americans who are buying Russian energy from India for a mark-up price.

It was all predictable, I said it on here months ago that this would backfire.

People might have been willing to pay more for gas and electricity so they can put Ukraine flags in their Twitter bio with pride, but we’ll see how much they’re willing to defend eastern Ukraine when their energy bills hit £5,000 come January.

This has been a disaster for the west. They told Zilensky to not negotiate with Russia and assured them they could win with western weapons, and now this looks like going on for years with each energy bill more crippling than the last for western consumers.

Please stop parroting misinformation from the Russians , they really aren’t thriving

They aren’t impacted by oil , but 1000s of companies have literally left Russia . 40% of which is their own gdp . Putin claimed this was a good thing as Russians will start their own businesses and replace them . This hasn’t happened

I mean , they’re having to literally make cars without air bags and ABS for goodness sake .

Oil won’t be impacted . It is sold in barrels and easy to give to other places . However with gas you need to setup new pipelines which takes time . Businesses leaving en masse also massively **** them over . That and a lot of their educated youth are just upping sticks and leaving

From the IMF report in the article:

"The report indicates Europe is facing the brunt of the fallout from sanctions given its reliance on Russia for energy. The situation could worsen dramatically if Moscow cuts off gas exports, and once the European Union imposes a ban on Russian oil delivered by sea starting next year."

And this is the reality isn't it? The sanctions are hurting Russia but not as much as predicted, but it's Europe that's getting it in the neck just as hard.

I'd imagine Truss is a bit of a war monger so we won't be getting any relief from the pain anytime soon. We surely aren't far away from the public turning their anger from Russia to the Gov when bills rise again in winter.

Europe will have more problems on its door step than energy if it lubes itself up and bends over for Russia and eases sanctions

As I posted above, you’re only looking at it from an oil perspective too. **** tons of business have left Russia , impacting gdp . Along with new pipelines needing to be built if they’re to redirect gas to customers elsewhere

Russians pride themselves on suffering if they’re told it’s for the greater good . Europeans ( and I include us on that) are going to have to show some grit ourselves if Russia is to be defeated

The sanctions are not having the impact the west thought they would or would have us believe.

The ban on Russian energy is not working, it’s crippling our own citizens and economies with no end in sight.

It won’t be long now before people say this isn’t a price worth paying.

Meanwhile Zelinsky is posing for Vogue with his wife whilst asking the UK (and others) for even more of our hard earned money.
