Gig on your own?

Has anyone gone to a concert on their own?
I’m planning to go to Don War club in Thornaby to see XSLF and Snide Remarks on Friday but can’t convince any of my mates to come along so will be standing out as a total Johnny-no-mate between bands

Been to plenty mate. Normally my wife comes with me but on occasion I've gone on my own.

Just rock up and enjoy yourself 👍

Well eye! Pint in one hand, awkward toothy grin for any odd looks.. rocking back and forth on the top toes.. whistling.. checking your phone!

The best of times.

Yes, quite a few times. My wife doesn't have the same taste in music as me. Now my son is getting older hopefully he will be willing to come along.

Saw Maren Morris at shepherds Bush on my own. Felt awkward at first but turned out to be an excellent gig.

Go for it, have a few adult beverages and enjoy!

Been to so many by myself over the years. You get to meet new people who you may not have got into a conversation with if you'd gone with your mates.
Don't be so self conscious and just get out there, you never know you might meet somebody new and enjoy yourself.
I used to go to a lot of gigs when I was a lad, often by myself, and usually met somebody to crash on their couch etc.
Some of those people I still stay in touch with 40 years later.

Yes, done it before, not everyone likes the same music. If none of your family or friends are into Bavarian Bottom Bagpipes then what's a guy gonna do, miss out, or go it alone and witness some excellent parping.

Get yourself there, you might feel self conscious at first but honestly no one there will be giving you a second thought. They'll all be there for the music, and there's probably plenty more people who are there on their own too.

I bumped into Stuart Pearce at a Shed 7 concert in the 90s and he was there on his own, if it's good enough for Psycho....

Many times both here and abroad, mostly standing gigs - i felt a bit odd at a sit down gig so would pass on them in future. As there's only 1 of you it's easier to manoeuvre into where you want to see the band from

Yep quite a few times home and abroad. The idea that you miss out on seeing a band play music that means a lot to you because there's no one who will go with you that feels the same way is such a shame imo.

I do it all the time. I quite enjoy it.

Loads. Same as above i.e.. the wife not liking (all) the same music.

Off to see Steve Hackett on my own in a few weeks and I'll be going to see Dream Theatre next year on my tod.

If the music is good why not.

One of the few things you can enjoy on your own. Better than going to a restaurant on your own or going to a pub on your own.
Generally as I get older I prefer doing things on my own. I like to holiday by myself. Stresses me out when you have to worry about other peoples lost passports and all the stuff they forget and what they do/dont like to eat etc. You also meet people you otherwise wouldnt. if you get my drift. Only concern is safety you can be vulnerable / target alone in a strange place.

Yes plenty of times. Done lots of things on my own, cinema, holiday, football match. Doesn't bother me.

Yes, lots of times. Wife does go to some, but generally on my own. Got to know quite a few people, so meet up at quite a few, as we follow the same music and bands. The metal community is quite friendly so always get talking to people. Been on my own to gigs in Europe as well. Go to Wacken Open Air Festival on my own, as no one I know likes my music and my wife does not like Wacken. Going to one tonight.
