Gibson is a big part of the problem

I have'nt read the comments so far before writing this but I can't believe anyone would genuinely think that Gibbo is the problem.

If anyone thinks that we would be better off without him just wait until he goes and we start to operate to a financial budget that does not include the millions he props the club up with.

Be very careful what you wish for.

I didn’t say we’d be better off without him. He is part of the problem but the solution isn’t him going.

IF he writes off the £121m, THEN he would have put in £185m across 29 years. £6.4m per season.

"But his decision making has resulted in the debt, he won't clear it, so he can't sell and we are stuck with each other."

The thing is, his decision making isn't going to just suddenly get better is it? Maybe it was always rubbish but its just that the 94-06 era he was able to fund bigger signings which made it look better? I dunno, as you say though, we appear to be stuck with each other and so I don't know if there's any point in wondering what the alternative is.

I don't, personally, feel any negativity at all towards him, and I still think it will be a sad day when he eventually no longer owns the club. But I do also feel that our fortunes aren't going to significantly upturn while he's at the helm, I just hope that if/when we have new owners they are able to deliver something that may remotely resemble the 94-06 era, and they easily might not.

Who knows, maybe this Scott experiment will pay dividends in the medium/long term.

I respect your position - and frankly used to feel the same way about Gibson.
But I don't and haven't since 2016. I have no faith he will stumble across success.
I'm a Boro fan, the club does not have to be Gibson FC.

Likewise. But I’m not entirely sure he will stumble across success myself. I’m just slightly fearful of how things *can* go if we’re unfortunate enough to get a dangerous crackpot in charge. I’m not sure I’d put Gibson anywhere near that bracket.

Not that what I want actually makes any difference, as you say, we’re stuck with each other anyway.

It's daft to say Gibson doesn't care, and it's true we could easily pass into the hands of somebody who doesn't.
However I'd much rather we had competence, coupled with a willingness to invest.
I couldn't care less where our players come from as long as they are the best we can get and apply themselves.
I feel the same about owners and the executives.
It is the club and the fans that matter.
