That is interesting I think I said that on Tyne Tees EFL clubs falling like dominoes.
What Parry and Gibson reckoned they were getting from the original deal was effectively a redistribution of parachute money that is confined to the 3 clubs relegated (and those that are still in the EFL from previous seasons) and spread through the EFL leagues and clubs. They think it is a guarantee of tv money being spread beyond the top table and guaranteed through the rest of the league. A bridging of the chasm between Premier and Football League. For the moment it would enable clubs to survive - many will likely fail - estimates of up to 20 before Christmas and if no fans get back in then that number will surely rocket up before the end of the season. But beyond this season it will enable some redistribution of wealth through league clubs.
BUT - what if tv revenues do not continue to rise in the post covid world and what if the top 6 doing their individual tv rights negotiations means that the product as a whole is no longer as attractive to the rest of the world. Does Thailand really crave Burnley v Fulham or Crystal Palace v Southampton?? Maybe just maybe they would prefer to only talk to Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool etc and the rest would be massively downgraded money wise.
