Getting used to the new board

Well, I just got signed up a few days ago but finding things different, for example I can always see the first thread of a post and not the last one, I am getting emails for all the threads I post on, how do I make an image for my profile? My posts do not appear immediately on the thread. Perhaps I need to alter my profile settings?
Otherwise it looks very good. I'm lost without sport this weekend though.
 
You have to turn off notification mails. Then unfollow all the threads you are currently following. Then the emails stop.
