As the mighty Boro thrashed Leeds 5-0 at Ayresome Park in a 1st division fixture
It was the 11th time Boro had scored 4 goals in one game & the 6th time George had scored 4 goals in one game, recording his 23rd goals of the season on the way to another remarkable seasons tally of 32 in 37 league games
Fred Warren scored the 5th goal that day, notching his 13th of the campaigne to date, on the way to 18 goals in 35 games, he scored about a one in three striker, we did have some firepower back then
Boro finished 7th that season in the 1st divison, our 2nd consecutive season in the top flight & remained a 1st divison club till relegation in the summer of 1954
