From last years switch to a fixed price I’m struggling to get a new fixed price deal anywhere near the previous one…

all the compare sites are coming out at approx £20 a month more…

I can afford these rises but I imagine there’s many others more with rise in NI cut in UC, fuel and food on the up who are gonna really struggle…

what the fcuk has happened to these sunlight uplands that everyone knew what they were voting for??

before anyone says covid, I’m guaranteeing you that the rich won’t be affected like those who are making them rich…

Next year the ordinary person or family could see their Energy Bills go up by £20 - £30 a month and taxed more by the same. I can guarantee most will not see a pay increase in real terms either.

We must be on a different planet. We were paying £146 a month nearly 10 years ago. We changed to Octopus and have paid £101pm for 7 years and now £122 pm.

Confusing second half of the post shoehorning brexit in there and I’m not sure what it is you’re saying about covid

Another shout out for Octopus. And you can speak to a real person who did the lot for switch over.

I've never heard of Octopus but until recently was with Avro and paid £92 a month. I'm with BG now and pay £96.

And it doesn't end there.
The following schemes have huge govenment grants to fund H2 and CO2 projects that may or may not be end up being profitable.
Grants given to huge PLCs that make £Billions a year in profits anyway.

BP - Net Zero Teesside
Cadent - Hynet in the North West
Shell - Scotland Pale Blue Dot
National Grid - Zero Carbon Humber

£100s millions of taxpayers money handed out handed out to extremely wealthy Comapnies

Who foots the bill for grants? Us of course. More backdoor taxation benefitiing the rich who reap the rewards through elevated Dividends.

That is the crux of it. Since the implementation of neoliberalism by Thatcher in the 80's big business and big finance have pretty much taken over. New Labour managed to fund social aspects much more than any Tory but still couldn't roll-back the power removed from the State.

Jeremy Corbyn wanted to take away the influence of finance and corporations but was made into a demon by the media controlled by them.

Sabf… I used to be with EON and paid a steadily rising £69 - 100 a month over 8 years then reluctantly switched after they hiked up to £115 and I could get pure planet at cheaper… today pure planet sent a renewal of £145 a month and compare sites are saying cheapest is £135….for a new 4 bed with 4 adults…

the comment on brexit is because it has had a very real impact on prices of essentials and COVID was mentioned because it’s the less well off that are suffering more because of the impact of it…

I expected the usual apologist for the rich to jump on that… we are paying to keep them as comfortable as they are while we work longer hours for less… that is a cold hard fact I’m afraid…

Much as I would like to blame Brexit, it has nothing to do with this price rise - it is Europe-wide.

It's also a tax on the stupid.
The stupid majority that voted Tory. Although I do accept the Corbyn effect.

As usual it's the vulnerable that suffer more..... to force the tax on Pensioners......... FFS
