Gary Neville joins the Labour Party

Gary Neville, speaks a lot of sense on both football and politics, he’s someone who has made the most of his abilities through hard work and focus, if this is the start of taking a more active roll in politics then I’m sure the success he has enjoyed in both his sporting and business career will be repeated should he ever decided to stand for election at council, mayoral or MP level.

100%

Knows nothing of working for a living. So getting into UK politics he's in good company.

No surprise Nick Robinson is all over him, massive Utd fan.

Neville doesn't need the money so hats off to him for wanting to get involved, noce to see some atlruism these days.

Northern. ✔️

The whole course of a decade of British politics changed on July 20th 2015 when Burnham abstained from voting on the Welfare Reform Bill and Corbyn voted against it, it defined the Labour leadership contest and allowed Corbyn to be seen as the change candidate, Burnham was in pole position, largest backing within the PLP and the subsequent Labour infighting would have been averted, Burnham had none of the Eurosceptic baggage of Corbyn, which may of influenced the Brexit vote, without Brexit we don’t have Cameron’s resignation and the rise of Johnson.

In hindsight I’m sure Burnham would have voted against that bill and not nuanced his opposition to it by abstaining, it was a seemingly inconsequential moment that made huge political waves and continues to do so years later.

potential leaders (Burnham) dont abstain in parliament - particularly on matters such as welfare.

Manchester is a safe seat for the mayor, Burnham is an Evertonian (scouser) and he still got in - Mancs have industrial & political heritage they know the political game in that city - Its Nevills to be had if thats what he wants - i doubt it is, his too busy earning and working on other matters.

problem Gary has now that his a card carrying member, is that he has to be careful what he says, when he says it & who he says it to.

he hasnt had that bind so far - if his not careful they will soon kick him out

Yes, but he was also Conservative president at his university, so surely they cancel each other out  (Robinson that is)

Actually, he's better than the current crop, the current crop just seem to.miss the beat somehow, hence we have a lunatic govt, we need more people like neville as the British public will for get AWFULLY quickly once johnsonn has gone and the next "sound bite" prime minister gets in

Do you know that? He's from a sport obsessed working class family, it's not like he was brought up in wealth and went to a private school or anything like that. All the people he grew up with, many of the people that his football job brings him into contact with and all his extended family are normal everyday people.
