Gary Lineker being reined in

I haven't read all the replies so apologies if it has already been said.
Lineker and his wage are always brought up, but the very fact that he doesn't need this job means he can stick to his guns and I hope he does. He's far more famous than the BBC as an entity so he also has that on his side.
The BBC and those on the right who are trying to push this fight need to come to terms with both of the above points.
It is very ironic that right wing politics isn't so much about strongarm tactics as it is about victimhood and acting like spoilt children who want to play by their own hypocritical rules.

Edit: Mr Wright proves what I said as I post. Hopefully more of the regulars take a stand and we are reduced to MotD being less star-studded than an ITV football league programme.

BBC decision 'pathetic' - Richard Osman

Gary Lineker's name has been trending high on Twitter over the last few days, and that doesn't appear to be changing with the news that he will not be presenting Match of the Day on Saturday, according to a statement released by the BBC.
Comedian, BBC television presenter and writer Richard Osman says of the decision: "This is pathetic for so many reasons."
We'll bring you more reaction as it comes.

Defiance seems to be spreading. Time for people to stand up and show their true feelings about this shambolic government.
Let's have a show with GL IW and Question Time guy

He's played a blinder to be fair. Always thought this was the likeliest outcome. Spotlight firmly on the gvt and the ministry of propaganda. Your move...
This will now go legal, they have prevented him from doing his job as contracted, thy have dragged his name through the mud also. He will have the heads of the BBC up in court to defend their blatant hypocrisy in allowing loads of other presenters have political views but not him, while also getting them questioned under oath about the 800k for Boris Johnson, giving money to the tories, Question Time being run by the wife of a major Tory PR person, and this will all happen in public view. They've hung themselves.

I see Ian Wright has said he is supporting Gary and not going to be on MotD, I hope and expect others to follow.

Good evening and welcome to Match of the Day. I'm your host, Frank Lampard, and joining me for expert punditry are John Yems and lifelong West Ham fan, David "Up The Villa" Cameron.

That’s me boycotting the BBC then.

It probably won’t make much difference but it just feels the right thing to do.

I hope this is the start of the tide instantly turning.
I have never understood in this day and age of subscription tv why we are forced to pay for a tv licence. Barring the odd motd i never watch the bbc. But pay more for that than I do Netflix etc. surely this has to change.
