Gareth Southgate

Can’t be arsed arguing with you -but if you want to - then remind me who won the trophy and were the best team on the night??

England were as good as Italy that night. They were about an inch from winning it, the ball missing Stones head by that distance in the last minute of extra time. Tiny margins sometimes.

Don’t agree.
They got better as the game went on
Not sure why I’m arguing about a game that happened 16 months ago ffs…,

Hello,

My names AET

I thought I’d come on here for an argument.

Oh and by the way I love Gareth Southgate. Bit limited as a tactician but wears lovely waistcoats. Brilliant England manager.

After each defeat, Southgate has the team eat one of his waistcoats while he sings Amazing Grace. It gives them mental fortitude.

Hi all

If you are all having a go at me for being anti Gareth southgate then can you go and pick on someone else

All I pointed out was he lost the final
Last year. To a much more experienced manager. Who beat him.

Seriously - all had a few drinks have we? Looking to Pick a fight ???

Take it easy, Aet.

A poisoned chalice it was.

He managed us to 12th, 13th and 19th PL places respectively in his 3 full seasons of club management.

Yes, we all would have liked to have stayed up in 2009, but I don’t think Southgate’s record was overly shabby for a new manager with a club shedding talent and cutting costs.

For me, he deserved the one-season opportunity to get us returned to the PL. Replacing him with Strachan was disastrous!

As far as I'm aware no one's having a go at anyone. As with many threads on this board there's differences in opinion and I hope most people manage to express their opinions without being overly confrontational or targeting people.

Lots of football fans like to think they're experts. The amount of ***** Southgate has faced from fans and media is shocking. Stuff like "take the handrake off" and other comments just demonstrate a complete lack of perspective. Southgate is perfect for international football and has created an amazing environment for a group of talented players to thrive.

Football fans like to be opinionated, but form opinions based on very limited information - What You See is All There Is. It's usually a very wrong opinion.

My only worry with this England team is when you think back to how Mancini outwitted him in the Euro final last year

Harsh but fair.
The hope and expectation is that he had learnt from that and developed his knowledge and is ready for it this time
