I dunno what I am missing from that article but I see no mention of £4 million investment in Billingham... the balloon figure for the company is £600 million and they haven't provided a breakdown per plant.
Reading the statement from FUJI they clearly state how they will spend the money... doubling production.... doesn't sound like a bit of replacement kit to me... that's major capital investment.
Why the need for further research? well last time I checked we didn't have a 100% proof vaccine so its clearly needed... not to mention further research into new strains and other viruses in the future.
Anyway just like everything else in this world... we all have our own opinion... Mine is that this is good news and positive not only for FUJI in Billingham but also the supply chain around it.
Having lived in Billingham for most of my childhood to early 30's its fantastic to see something be developed on the site of the old offices... the new building looks amazing and is fantastic step forward for the area around it that was blighted for so many years.

Why is £600m the headline figure in the local rag, when £4m is being invested?
Why the need for further research into what is really being spent in the area, surely a newspaper should provide that, unless it has a reason not to?
