Fry next?

If we're willing to accept the widely reported fee of £12 million (inc add ons) for Tavernier will we accept a similar or larger bid for Fry??

I think Tavernier pushed to be away & join Bournemouth, not so sure Fry would do the same.

I sort of look at Fry as this teams talisman, he’s local, he’s been in the team for years and he is very good, surely captain in waiting. If he was to be sold purely for the money I’d be extremely angry, annoyed and also a bit worried I think.

Be interesting too see if he plays this weekend or bench again

id be concerned if we lost fry, even if Lenihan is ahead of him for the starting central centre back spot, for games away at millwall, rotherham luton etc who launch it id like to have the option of playing a more traditional back three rather than overlapping type centre halves.

I don't think we'll be selling him, but I do think we might start to run in to issues with McNair and Fry if they're not getting games.

They won't be happy sitting on the bench at this point in their careers, and I'm not sure where they'll slot in if we do sign a left sided centre back as I think Lenihan will be starting most games under Wilder.

Was he 100 per cent - considering he missed the last friendly - or just not preferred to those who started?

Wilder said they didn't want to risk him, but I'm not sure he'd have started anyway given his preference for a left footer.

It's a funny situation to be in now, we've got an abundance of right footed defenders.

Think Fry is off to Brighton according to report i saw, they're desperate for another centre back. Brighton, or Bournemouth, i can see him going. Massive changes for us this year, money to spend for Wilder, big changes selling players previously seen as irreplaceable. I like it. We've needed a major overhaul, none of the players at the club bar Jones IMO are irreplaceable.

Spence, Tav, Fry will bring in decent money. If CW gets 50% of it to spend now and then another few quid in January, im all for it. Change is good.

People are always saying this. If you worry about how they'll take not starting matches, you would never have enough good players to get through a season and you'd have to make do with a 'Dads Army' bench. Good pros accept that they can't have a guaranteed place in the side.

When Fry has rumoured Premier League interest, I do worry how he'll take not playing when he's been a mainstay for years and he's dropped for a new signing.

He's not young enough, old enough or low quality enough that it's par for the course for him.

McNair has went on record that he hated his first season here when he wasn't playing.
