French Frank

For some reason wiki only shows league appearances on that table on the right hand side.

Sunderland was his home debut, can't remember who he made his full debut against.

absolute bloody legend obviously. Travesty when Smac dropped him for Pogatetz.

Thing is lads have you seen a better goal from Frank than this, incredible an not sure Messi could have done this.

Arsenal 5 Boro 3

Also remembered for doing kick ups on his way to take the penalty v spurs in the QF.

He was a very good player. Bought on the recommendation of Joseph job I believe. Very good going forward. I can only assume he was replaced by pog due to his discipline as he was fond of a red, and he occasionally could be had on toast by a decent winger. I remember jesper gronkjar ripping us to shreds down our left one game. Of course pogatetz was worse defensively, was banned for 6 months for biting someone's leg off or something, and was less use going forward than a combine harvester, but there you go.

I think you’re being a bit harsh on Pog there, no doubt he was a limited full back but when he was moved to centre back with Robert Huth then Woodgate he was top class.

Yes he was a good centre back but a poor left back. Much like howson and zenden were better in positions they weren't bought to play in. The thing to remember about putting round pegs into square holes is that you're playing football, not some sort of game where you are required to place pegs into suitable holes.

Loved Franck, excellent player and surprisingly influential from left back. Good in the air, physically strong and effective going forward. Absolute bargain

Was only half the player after he left us and went to Fulham and Brum.

It was probably Frank's sending off record - 3 of them in season 2002-03 which probably meant that McClaren didn't trust him fully. I think that year we would have got ito Europe under fair play rule without Frank's yelow/red cards!
