Freddie Mercury tribute concert

Found it on Sky on demand earlier and watching it now. Its a bit up and down really. Its telling though that the good performances are from artists who had long and successful careers.

I tell you what though, Axl Rose used to be an absolute force of nature. That entrance during Bohemian Rhapsody...

I remember watching it live as a teenager and being excited as f*#k because I was going to see Guns n’ Roses a few months later and their performance was awesome. When I first saw it was on tv a few years back I thought I’d give it a rewatch but was highly disappointed that they left Guns n’ Roses set off. It’s understandable that they didn’t show the whole concert to keep it down to a reasonable time limit but they should have left the Gn’R songs in, even if it was just to keep me happy! 😀

For anyone who may have seen the tribute concert but not the Gn’R set, here you go.

Was several programmes on BBC4 last night about Freddie Mercury and Queen
They talked about him in ‘The Zanzibar days’
While I was always somewhere between merry and pi$$ed in there I can’t remember ever seeing him

I was there. George was by a country mile the best performer on the day.
Well George and the videos of freddie.

It includes the last performance of the late great Mick Ronson.

The rerelease of Bohemian Rhapsody in 1991 led to a 14yr old me discovering rock music, so I was bang up for this concert and recorded it all on VHS.
