Frank Lampard Sacked

I still don’t understand why Big Dunc never got the job when Frank was appointed.
Same. Everton through and through and would surely be given longer than Lampard to get things right.

I know there is a hatred of Everton on here (I don't know why) but maybes a spell in the lower leagues like Man City and Leeds both experienced would do them well. Start again. Managers there have bought horribly over the years.

You'd think Rooney must be a shoe in for the job. Closer to family, premier league challenge, even if they go down he's got championship experience and would surely take Everton straight back up.

The problem they have is that the place is toxic.

Regardless of a new manager the hatred for the board will still be there and it will be a tinder box just waiting to go up in flames on the back of a couple of bad results.

I can see the board giving it to Big Dunc as they may be able to use him as a kind of a go between for the club and the fans.

I can’t see it being any of that lot tbh
Got no sympathy for any of the big boys.
The Premier League and Sky megga-bucks have as much a part in this as the boards and the managers.
We know how much the Premier League skews us in the Championship.
Players demand obscene money.
Agents screw the clubs.
The owners of the "brand" control game times and conditions.
Media rights exclude people who cant afford whopping prices from the working-man`s game.
We see this ridiculous merry-go-round of old boys network managers - being paid obscene salaries to fail at one club then fail at another.
Foreign traders buy and sell football clubs like the casino stock exchange.
In all this - where is there any thought for the fans? Us?
So long as money rules in obscene amounts like it does, no amount of Management changes and media ffests will stop Premiership panic.
At least it keeps Talkpremiermeggabucks Radio busy.
Tuff schitt mate.
Media having a right old ffest over Everton.

He's not, he says he's just out of energy with it all and ready to let go. When he started supporting them they were champions. His Dad was also a lifelong fan and they are from the West Lancashire area (not quite Merseyside) but he says its just been a gradual and fragmented decline since with no joy aside from the 95 cup win.
He's nailed on to become a Citeh fan next season.

Talksport have been chomping at the bit to break the story all morning saying 'the players want him sacked!'

Na doesn't like either Manchester club. I think he's more likely to go down the non-league route. He manages a junior side too so think he mostly wants to concentrate on that.

Would be interested to see his reaction if Everton ever did start to complete for silverware again, but it feels a long way off, but for now I think he has washed his hands of it entirely.

I can't get my head round people that switch teams as adults but it does happen.

They reveal that they want to honour a recently discovered long lost family member who was a die hard City/Liverpool/PSV fan 😃
PSV?

I don't actually know anyone whose genuinely changed teams, I'm sure its not unheard of though.

I know a lad who moved to Norwich and started supporting them more than he did his previous team (West Ham) which was a bit weird but he didn't actually come out and admit it.

Personally, I don't even understand the 'second team' thing. I live in the borough of Stockport and whilst I quite like to see them do well I don't actually give a stuff in reality. If Boro were wound up I'd support the phoenix club, and if they didn't have one I'd just channel my efforts into supporting England.

Half my in laws are Everton fans, season ticket holders mostly. They are all totally peeved off with the club, mostly blaming the board.

They have had enough of mediocre football and not winning anything, plus the stick they get from the red side of the city.

Ive tried to convince them that a year in the championship would be brilliant fun. Better away days, more allocation, different grounds and more wins. Everton would walk this league, even with a major clear out. Their first silverware for decades.

They are having none of it. The premiership is all they've know, and that's all that matters to them.

Yeah, its not hard to see why they feel like that. The two clubs have at varying points in history been on a totally level pegging. Since Everton helped form the PL as one of the 'big 5', they have shown themselves to be anything but a top 5 club apart from maybe one or two seasons they snuck into it (got in the CL once and were eliminated in the qualifying rounds as I recall).

Two FA Cup final appearances, winning one, and no joy whatsoever in the League Cup or in Europe since the 80s must be hard to take when you have been in the top flight longer than almost everyone else and always seen yourself as a club who should be competing.

Weirdly, despite being in a similar position and having won less in history, Spurs fans always seem relatively delighted to never win anything however, as long as they are competing with Arsenal (as they have done for the last decade or so). That could all change again soon though. Maybe they'll end up in Everton's shoes in the medium term.
