Frank Bough RIP

Prostitution itself isn't illegal i don't think, soliciting though is. Coke, as in cocaine, is not illegal to take. It is illegal to sell or possess though.

agreed, but if you were associated with either you were finished back then.
The BBC liked to be squeaky clean.

There have been a few who fell foul of scandal.
Some though did get away with it until it was too late to prosecute.
A certain Jimmy Savile springs to mind.

RIP Frank - great presenter
If he'd been around today the 'scandal' would have had different consequences.
The worst that would have happened is he would have been a Tory Minister.

I am sure Frank had far better morals than to allow that to happen 1finny 😉

Seems amazing now the furore it caused at the time. He was Mr BBC as I was growing up....Grandstand, Nationwide and then Breakfast Time. Also remember him on the Holiday programme with his wife Nesta!

These days an apology for a misjudgement and back on TV a week later, it wasn't as if Frank was a politician preaching family values so was guilty of hypocrisy (David Mellor). Even now Mellor resigning seems so 90s and would be ok these days!

I well remember all those headlines in the red tops; 'Spanking Frank' et al. When you think how you can have your career pretty much ended for doing something privately. Nowadays he'd write book, be on a chat show, go to rehab and be back within a few months.

Sad, and I echo the above. As soon as you heard that voice you knew who was on the tv. An institution indeed. RIP Frank...

Still remember this. The opening to Breakfast programming on television.
Its incredible how you remember small things like this. I actually got up slightly earlier to watch this. Is was an historic TV moment and the BBC had stolen a march on TVAM who were launching a week or so later.

What happened to Crimewatch Nick Ross?
