France & Germany heading into national lockdown

Will we follow suit? The rise in the number of cases and deaths is very worrying and its plain to see the current tier 1/2/3 system doesn't appear to be working.

Yes, I think we will - the Government will probably try and delay it in England until after Christmas

Firstly to not 'disrupt' the Christmas shopping period

Secondly because 'families want to see each other'

And thirdly to see how Wales / NI's fire breakers have worked.

I would be surprised if Boris brought it in before 25th December in England - but you never know....

The problem is immunity is short-lived it seems - a scientist, 69 years old in Serbia caught it for a 2nd time this year

First in France in Feb and then in Serbia...

So in one respect... Lockdowns don't do much - it's annoying

Bring it on.
Personally would sooner winter was a bit **** than spring.

We'll get another lockdown before the end.

Definately coming to us.

The Xmas thing gets right up my nose tho.
The Chinese cancelled their New Year Celebrations
The Irish cancelled St Patrick’s day
The Muslim world cancelled Haj (Xmas on speed)
We cancelled eid for 000s of muslims here. (basically the equivalent of xmas eve)

This virus is either serious or not.
We really gonna risk it for Prosecco, a dry turkey and a family argument.

Do you think it will be before or after Christmas?

The problem is..... our winters are worse in late Jan / Feb these days - We obviously need a lockdown now, but we could be in and out of a few of them quite quickly.... particularly if the 'flu season' is bad

Flu doesn’t exist according to the stats ;)
at least Hardly anyone has dies from it this year. - progress eh

Apparently incidences of flu have plummeted due to the wearing of masks and people not going out so much.

Tier 4 tier 5 etc. Be a big climb down. Shouldve done the 3 week one while schools off but boris just wont accept advice. Owt can happen going forward under this clown. Also time to investigate how many of his laws are financially driven. We wont go forward if money dictates

Do you think it will be before or after Christmas?

I think part of Macron's thinking is that this re-confinement will last for a month, reduce the infections and deaths and then he can ease the restrictions for Christmas. I personally don't think it will be enough to do more than slow the rate of increase.

Eh? Where do you live. We hardly get winters anymore in England.

Aye, looks like the masks, social distancing and other restrictions have done a grand total of **** all.

Look at the curve in March and April and compare that to the current one. That’s what masks, social distancing and other restrictions have done. Slowed the spread.

So what's your plan, slow the spread then what? Or stop the spread?
