Forss

Forss' finishing is at another level. His goal on Saturday wasn't the the result of just shooting to the goal, he had the ball under control, sold a dummy to the centre back and goal keeper then placed the ball into the net. All done in a blink of an eye. I've notice a few of his other goals aren't the result of smashing the ball towards the goal, he sets up his shot very well. Quite a find imho.

Wilders biggest sin was trying to con the boro public that’s their team wasn’t good enough to compete in a league we regularly fight promotion in.

Some of us knew this was wrong and tried to counter this view but many believed his negative spin.
It was one last desperate throw at the dice from a desperate man.

He believed if he could convince Boro fans that the squad wasn't good enough for promotion it would buy him more time, and he could ride with the narrative of it being a long-term plan.

No doubt.

Lots of bitterness on here towards ex-players and managers.
Some of which I just can't understand.
Aye, but there's different levels of it. Wilder won't get as much of it as the whinging Scottish ginge for example. Or the Monk. But he'll get much more than say AK or Robbo that's for sure.

Not sure why we have to treat previous managers like an ex who ran off with your brother and took the dog with her.
Wilder, like all those before him, had his own ideas and for a while he produced some fabulous football and results.
Pound to a penny that some will be sniping at Carrick in the future when fortunes inevitably change.
I don't think it's bitterness as such, I have fond memories of many boro managers; AK, Mogga, Bruce, Southgate, to name the obvious.

But Wilder was someone who really soured my opinion of him, I found him churlish and arrogant when things began to unravel and was pleased to see him go.

Carrick already has won me over, results apart he comes across as a really balanced and humble guy.

At least with Wilder, you can point towards the Burnley issue for fans acting like jilted lovers.

But some of the comments about ex-players are downright vicious, despite most of their worst offences just being that they weren't as good as we'd hoped.

All a bit strange to me.

Well I’d disagree on that point. It was mostly turgid stuff… slow passing from one side of the pitch to the other through the back 3, repeat x 10 until you can play a wing back in

The football under Carrick is on another level
It's all about levels. It was certainly fabulous to watch compared to Pulisball. Next to Carrick's brand of entertainment thus far...not so much.

I don't think it was even that. I think he believed he was better than us, but we were the best offer he had.

Any talk of a long term plan and being "all in" etc was just because he knew that's what the chairman and the fans wanted to hear. His real objective was to be a premier league manager again, as soon as possible.

I do think he believed he could do that with us, but he wanted to try and do it as a quick fix. So he wanted us to gamble on players with no resale value or for high transfer fees. Players who could play his system and make an immediate impact in his mind. If it didn't work it wasn't going to be his mess to sort out.

Obviously Scott and co. had other ideas, Wilder had a bit of a sulk and started looking elsewhere for a better opportunity to get back to where he thought he belonged.

Obviously that's just conjecture, but Scott has confirmed Wilder had a wandering eye and Wilder publicly moaned about recruitment so I reckon it's probably not too far off the mark.

yeah but he did throw the lad under the bus without giving him a chance, which I believe was engineered to keep the fans divided against the board to support him to get an expensive striker in, sure if he got his way he would of worked with the so called development players as well, but when he never got them he doubled down on what he didn't have rather than use what he did have, he got very lucky with akpom turning his career around when he did

I'm certain I saw people when he was linked and signed bring up stats that said exactly that from his previous run in the championship too, so wasn't a unknown factor too, which made the development tag even more laughable

Will sound a daft comment as he's a professional footballer, but it's impressive how accurately and hard he can kick the ball with no back lift and seemingly very little effort!

It's just perfect technique. I don't think you can really teach that. You can coach and refine it to a point but for some players it just comes naturally. Forss is obviously one of them.

Remember playing a few 5 a side matches with a lad who had a similar ability years ago. Was like a missile. Never seen anything like it. It got to the point where the opposition keeper was almost in tears. Think it was painful even if he saved them. He was going mad at his teammates every time he got a shot away 😂

If I remember correctly, the Brentford fans really rated him...

Apart from being a genuine goal threat from the right, Forss works really hard.
He constantly gives an option and is looking to get in behind.

But he also really impressed me yesterday with how hard he worked when we weren't in possession. He worked back yesterday and made a couple of really good sliding tackles when they were countering. I'm sure this is something he's added to his game under recent weeks.

I love his energy.

It's similar to Watmores. He never stops and he never gives the opponent a second on the ball.

Plus, he's a huge upgrade on Watmore in front of goal and being a threat.

Finish on Saturday was superb, picked his spot through a crowd of players and didn't panic. Strangely Wilder had seen how he could finish as he took his goal really well at QPR early in the season too.
I liked Wilder up until the wheels fell off early this season, even give him the benefit of the doubt for being interested in going to Burnley. He clearly annoyed those he was working with and managing, with some of his unnecessary snide digs. The comment about Forss being a case in point, absolutely not necessary, similarly his comments on Fry and Dijksteel early season. I imagine Wilder was royally ***ed off by how Tav left, as he was central to his way of playing and we had no opportunity to get in a replacement, so relationships broke down all round.
