Forss medical ongoing now

Anyone know why (at least looking at the stats) he flopped at Hull? Is it just because they were a bit crap? Except when they played us and we made them look like 1995 Ajax of course.
I wouldn’t read much into his time at Hull, they were chaotic last season, probably not the best environment for a younger player to do well in. He was very good in the season Brentford we’re promoted. Definitely worth a risk as long as we can get an experienced striker on loan

He had a couple of injuries. He started 5 games in 2 weeks in February just after he arrived. HE then got injured, came back on the bench, and the manager had decided he prefered to play the Iranian striker that he brought in instead. Forss then got another injury and missed the last month.

He was only 100% fit for about 3 weeks for Hull.

We need permanent signings Funky C. We can't keep loaning all the time, particularly strikers that cost a lof of money. Forss is an investment, but one that can add value now. His goals per minute is good, and the only reason he didn't get more time is because Toney was a beast.

Does that mean he doesn’t get involved in a lot of offensive duels, but in the few that he does he is very successful?

So yes he doesn't get involved in a lot offensive duels but usually wins them when he does.

For clarity an offensive duel is where a player has possession of the ball and an opponent is trying to take the ball off him.

So in this context it tells us that he he moves the ball on before someone gets the chance to try and tackle him, and when he doesn't move it on, he usually still retains the ball.

Not sure we play with definite 9s and 10s, sometimes we play two "9s"
Yep. One of the strikers might be expected to drop a bit deeper to link up the play, but I'd still say they were both more like 9s than anything else.

We don't really play with a 10.

2 m is buttons today so not even a gamble in my eyes.
It is a gamble because this guy hasn't showed any indication that he's a prolific scorer, he has had injury problems, he hasn't played regularly for a year and - most of all - it's £2 million less in the budget to find a 20+ goals striker.

I hope he does well but this looks like another triumph of hope over expectation.

i think it’s a gamble to. Couldn’t help myself look at the comments about him on the Hull messageboard and it’s not that complimentary.

These are just two of a number of frustrating comments. As somebody else said maybe he struggled because they were struggling. Best to put a positive on it and give him the benefit.

There's being glass half empty, and then there's having a leak in your glass and the contents have dribbled away down your leg....

Look, every signing is a gamble and some signings will flourish in certain environments or tactical set ups that might struggle elsewhere. Hopefully the club have done their homework and found someone whose attributes fit how we want to play.

This is exactly the type of signing we need, grabbing the up on coming strikers of tomorrow for relative peanuts rather than blowing the entire budget on a one season wonder who may flop. If you buy cheap you get a few cracks at it, sure some of the gambles might not pay off, but if they don't you will at least be able to offload at a small loss and won't lose too much money. If he signs I'd rather give him a chance and see with my own eyes how he gets on rather than writing him off before he's through the door.

Has £2m been confirmed or is it just speculation? - I wrongly predicted £5m+, £2m seems like an absolute bargain.

£5m would be far too much. I hope it’s £2m and it is a gamble I agree too but at £2m worth the punt. Brentford fans seem to think £5m would be having our eyes out.
