For Those Stockpiling

I'll make my apologies for my stockpile.

5 packs of cream eggs that were for a kids' club I run that is now cancelled.

2 weeks of an apple and pear a day - my vitamin C boost

2 days of food in stock (we usually shop every day).

Sorry.

Selfish, ignorant, I'm alright, I'm more importantant than you Jacks of this world

Why can't we pull together to hopefully fight this Horrific virus, which let's be honest will affect every individual in the country, young or old in o e way or anither

Stop bulk buying, stay indoors unless you're needed, think of others please

For balance, while this seems to have brought out the worst in some people it has brought out the best in others.

Its genuinely heartwarming seeing endless people helping out the elderly, the sick, the unemployed etc by volunteering their time to pick up essential foods, medications and running errands for those who need it.

Strip back the ridiculous panic buying that should subside soon hopefully and I think it has brought many people closer together and helping their friends and neighbours.

Yes, TBH, that's the way we should be looking at it during these awful times

At work yesterday we had a feel good hour & reading out the good things people & companies are doing 👍💕

Bad news sells and we have a tendency to focus on the negatives rather than the positives. It’s important we all take the time to scratch under the surface and discover all the really good things people are doing for one another too.

In Tesco yesterday there was two packs of bacon left and I picked them up and put them in the basket - we normally get two packs of bacon when we shop. I looked at the bacon and thought 'do I really need both' and put one back for someone else to have.

I was amazed at the lengths some went to to get round the multi buying. One couple had two trolleys and then went off to separate tills to bend the rules.

How sad.

We'll done Norman, a nice example of thinking of others at the same time you seen the I'm alright & more important than you Jacks, makes your blood boil

Great display of national unity: everyone panic buying the same in every part of the country.

It is predicted to end when stock replenishment catches up. But when people become aware that the supermarket staff are going into isolation/looking after kids etc,, won't the panic start up all over again?

Daughter works for NHS and has 10 year old son with serious dairy, wheat and egg allergies, so needs ‘free from’ foods. She decided to take advantage of Tesco opening early today for NHS workers but couldn’t get parked anywhere near the store for everyone else filling the car park and queuing to be ready for normal opening. By the time she got parked, some distance away, the shop had opened to everyone and had filled up. She’ll try again before work in the morning at Sainsburys as she can park at our house and I’ll drop her at the store and give her a lift to work.

I have to admit I have bought a few things I normally wouldn’t, frozen pizzas, burgers, oven chips etc, mainly to cover lunches for the two teenagers that will be loitering around the house all day and I’ve restocked early on a couple of things (rice, pasta, eggs and potatoes) so I currently have 1 and half bags of 500g basmati as a precaution in case when we do run out we have some in, better looking at it than for it as they say, I’ve also double bought milk today which means I won’t have to revisit a shop for a week. There is a sensible balance somewhere I guess, between buying more to cut down on the number of shop visits that you require.

There has to be a solution to limit the sheer volumes pouring into some of these places. They are the worst areas for passing the virus than any stroll in the park. Whatever idea the enforcement would be very problematic. Each supermarket should have compulsory hand sanitiser dispensers before people go round touching shelves, food packs etc.

Am thinking out loud sorry.
