Football shirts

Are they accepted as a standard top? For example, when getting dressed on a morning, is it ok to wear a football shirt to go out and do the shopping, a walk round the town, go to the kids school sports day, family day out or whatever. I live near Durham and am beyond sick and tired of seeing those ridiculous black and white tops. Do they not own anything else? It’s just a massive sign to say how much of a bill end someone is for me.

There was an article in the Gazette the other day that had me spitting feathers. A guy in a Newcastle top proposing to a girl in a Newcastle top at a SamFender gig - both from Blackhall.

What's that got to do with Teesside?????

Bell end because you wear a football shirt?
I've got several and wear one quite often when out and about. If it makes me a bell end I apologise and am guilty as charged.
You can't make this stuff up.

I always cringe when I see them in airports, a few Newcastle shirts at Manchester earlier this week, couple of Utd & City, but not many.

Personally always wore footy tops for two occasions - playing footy and going to the match.

Each to their own, it's only an item of clothing at the end of the day 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Geordies do seem to take it to an extreme though. Professional Geordies, eh? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Retro tops at festivals are always nice to see, might dig mine out next time I get to one.
Saw a couple of Boro tops last Friday at Heaton Park when seeing The Courteeners and they are everywhere at Glasto

People can do what they want of course but I'm probably in the camp of it's a sports top therefore it's for playing sports, watching footy, sleeping in or dossing around at home.

Not for going to the pub in etc. (unless watching a game).

Think they're probably ok on holiday if you're relaxing by the hotel pool. You look like a massive tourist if you wear one while out and about though.

Just come back from holiday and my brother in law wore a different Leeds shirt every day 🤮. Have to admit it did make me wish I'd packed a boro shirt just so to make it clear to casual observers I wasn't also a Leeds fan.

I think I'd slam my foot in a door to get out of going on holiday with someone like that.

I think you deserve a bravery award.

🤣 Exactly! Why does it matter? If people want to wear their team's shirt with pride then good on them. Definitely not something to be embarrassed about. I wear Boro training gear quite often. Wonder if that makes me a bell end too or is training wear deemed acceptable? 🤔

As long as if you are going to a funeral you wear your best set then I think it's alright.

I’ve got a casual polo shirt and jacket from the club shop which I wear as normal attire. Wearing a Boro top is fine but that lot up the road take it to extremes. They’re just embarrassing. Same with Leeds and Sunderland aren’t too far behind. Can’t stand all three of them.
