Football’s darkest secret.

Just watched all 3 episodes on iplayer. Wow that’s a tough watch. The scale of each of the offenders is what I find most shocking. For it to have not been uncovered earlier than it was has to show some culpability and responsibility to the clubs they worked at.

Horrendous
Incidentally there are chats on here about whether it is acceptable to boo your own players
David White said every time his name was called out he screamed loudly so if there was any booing he didn't hear it, and that it spoilt his 'living the dream' of being a professional
In another programme '24 hours in police custody' the police woman often smiled when discussing the rape victims ordeals
She was certainly not 'laughing' and I genuinely believe players are often not 'laughing' when they make mistakes
Nobody knows what people have gone through - or how things affect them - so sometimes I think we need to be a bit less condemning of people, when we don't know the ins and outs of their personalities or life stories

The good news is that child protection is big now and people crossing the line of late are punished see Adam Johnson.

Not true in the past (1999) I remember Graham Rix serving 6 months for having full sex with a 15 year old girl in a hotel and the playing staff supposedly knew what he was doing. He was back in football coaching under 18s but not under 16s after coming out of prison.

Interesting that the BBC put out this series a week after the FA brought out that statement on March 17th 2021. By the way, what do they call the new PFA Chief Executive?

From what I understand and what I ahve heard from other investigations into organisations is that the clubs knew about it, when the allegations were made, if they ever were, then the coach would be sacked and he would move to another team and carry on his activities there. the clubs don't want to be associated with it for fear of being branded in association with them. Sweep it under the carpet so to speak, especially if the person in question was good at their job.

The bit where Charles Hughes from the FA just turned his back on that reporter on the Dispatches programme made my blood boil!
Couldn't believe that footage.

Incredible how some in the FA knew something was wrong but clearly just wanted to sweep it under the carpet in the hope it went away.
