Foodies - Best place you've eaten on the planet

Am open pit BBQ place in Tampa, Florida.
Basically a hole in the ground filled with hot coals and wood, spit over the top. Not a touristy place. The food was incredible.

Moro is very good - St John in West Smithfield is an interesting one. Great if you like offal and an unusual menu which isn't for everybody.

Rogan's restaurant in Cartmel - L'Enclume is one of the best Ive been to. A treat from start to finish.

Went earlier this year to Brigadiers in The City of London where the Indian food is incredible.
Sorry Cardiff you are right, I should have said Moro for the food and St John for the atmosphere and mood. Loved the Tontine in the 80’s (Malcolm Alison had lunch in there regularly), also loved Eugene’s place in Crathorne last time I was up there.

I loved the River Cafe in London!
I was there once, a rather pretentious woman on the table next to us complained about her main meal and asked for something else, she then complained about that and the chef offered to make her something which she finally ate. I felt so sorry for the guy serving her, I’m not saying she was being difficult but generally if I sent something back and got a replacement and stills didn’t like it I would Just not go there again!

Found a place in Carnaby St. London, earlier this summer called the Rum Kitchen. Great Jamaican food and vibe. Think Turtle Bay but more authentic. I think they have a few of these across the capital

I took the Mrs here and we sat at the chefs table in the kitchen, really nice food and the views great.

other than that anywhere in Japan really. I went here which was great food.

funny thing was it’s a skyscraper and when I went to the toilets the urinal were glass against a floor to vowing glass wall, it felt like you were peeing down into the city below.

What's the best all round dining experience you've ever had. Not necessarily the finest or the most expensive, but just that overall Wow?

Took the other half here for our 20th anniversary. One of the most stunning locations for a restaurant. The food was very cheffy, and very nice and the wine list was, let's just say, euromillions.

Looks really nice, a hotel as well, very flash!

We had a meal in Kissimmee, Florida on our wedding night at 'Charleys' on the 192 Bronson Highway. The service was absolutely on point, first a chap 'Chaz' came with our drinks and introduced himself and told us about the place and showed us some photos of some of the celebrities they's had just in - pretty impressive list too. He then sat with us to ask for our preferences. Based on that brought a selection of meats and fish to the table and we made our choices, choices for cooking, preferred sides dressings etc.

He delivered the whole thing to the table on a candlelit platter and served it all up to warmed plates, with a complimentary bottle of champagne and the food was absolutely delicious. It was in fact so good we went back the last time we were there, unfortunately 'Chaz' was no longer there but we did have a similar experience in terms of the food, though the service was not so intimate.

It may have been the occasion as well as the food, but we agree it was definitely the best to-date, despite some pretty good experiences elsewhere.

Sinatra’s at the Encore Hotel, Las Vegas. For all round experience and service that will take some beating. Also had an unbelievable meal at a place called Fiskardo in Kefalonia, can’t remember the name of the restaurant but it was spectacular.

Hard to choose.

Asturian Char-grilled steak in Cangas D'Onis.
The Pulpo and the Coquinas at La Paz Garrido in Fuengirola (of all places) ... simple brilliance (always go back there)
Tasting menu at Nicole (Istanbul) was divine darling
Calamari at Al Bacio, Clifton (just the best, even if the chef was Berlusconi's personal chef for a while)
Snout and Surf at Engine Social Dining
Tomahawk steak by Robert Owen Brown at The Hinch
And I always go back to Salamanca in Barcelona for the Paella

me & the missus treat ourselves to the tasting menu at roka, japanesey sushi stuff - incredible food, presentation & prices... but we think its worth it once a year. charlotte street (london) is our favourite one.

A local Bun Ca place on a backstreet in the centre of Hanoi. Or maybe the Pho place where they flash fry the beef with garlic before it goes into the broth.

Honestly the city that keeps on giving in a culinary sense.

Had a ridiculously good tuna steak in Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre a few years ago, that sticks in the memory.

L'brindellone in Florence if you're a carnivore. Bistecca forever.

I think the best brunch I've ever had is here in Budapest. Nothing too fancy, just everything is done perfectly and it has everything I love.

Dim Sum in Hong Kong was great.

Christ this is making me both hungry and making me want to both cook and travel..
